For those of you who love to visit the National Parks as we do, "The National Parks: America's Best Idea" is an absolute must-see on public television, another Ken Burns masterpiece. It's comprised of several chapters; tonight's was about the creation of better roads in the parks, and the segment on the Smokies made me homesick for my old soft mountains. I was able to identify some of the same sites we visited when we did our "big trip" to California and western states. If you can, see it!

It's amazing how close we came to NOT having these great public ares. The people who fought to preserve them should have special days honoring them. What would we have without Muir?

A wonderful series. Much like other Ken Burns classics. I just wish he would get someone else to narrate the series. Peter Coyote is no doubt making a fortune doing this kind of work but I'd rather hear fingernails on a chalk board.
