I remember the morning of 9/11/01.... where I was (several thousand miles from home visiting my ailing dad in Abbotsford, BC).... the panic as it was announced that the borders would shortly be closed until further notice, and I stuffed my things into my bag, rushed to the nearest border crossing, and was the second to last person/car allowed across before the gates were closed.... the impossibility of finding commercial transportation home to Ohio from the West Coast, and the long drive home over the next three days in the rental car.... the worry, fear, and emotions I felt and my family felt as they prayed for my safety and successful journey home.

But all that was nothing but inconvenience compared to those in NY, DC, and PA and their families' panic and agony! I don't ever want to forget their sacrifice, their loss, their heroism! May God bless each survivor, each family member.

May He also give special blessings to all the rescue, safety, fire, police, and military who go to work every day on our behalf, knowing that they may face their own 9/11 that day. Thank you all for your service!

Thank you Nana for sharing. As all over the nation we had service this morning. Fire and Law Enforcement together as we should be.

We should never forget nor forgive what happened that day.

I couldn't agree more with that statement! Never forget nor FORGIVE!

People and societies have a way of forgetting such atrocities as time passes. We must constantly be reminded and shown the footage of what happened on that day. It can happen again.

I know some were closer than I on that day. Some of my friends worked in NY. The guy next to me, said his son worked in the building across the street and saw the plane go by window level. After the explosion they evacuated the building and they ran down the street. He was covered in soot. I was in work just 80 miles north. ( as the crow flies, or plane ) We got a call from a sales man that a twin engine plane hit the tower. Planes have hit buildings before. Having no TV we went about our jobs until the second crash . We went on the Internet and saw it. It was like Pearl Harbor all over again. My hearts go out to all those that lost someone that eventfully day.

I was in Africa on a Missions trip, I first heard it on the BBC radio. For the first 15 minutes I though they were talking about Jos Nigeria, where I was trying to go next. I still remember the cold chill down my spine when I relized they were talking about NY and this was my country under attack. The BBC really sanitized the reporting, leaving out a lot of details, so we were in the dark to how bad it really was until i finally got a call through to home. My wifes first words were COME HOME NOW. Took over a week to accomplish.

Prayers lifted to the love ones of our American heros who have given so much so that my family can be free.

Never Forget.

I don't often talk of this, but will share here.

I was IN tower 1 when the first plane hit, on The 17th floor. It took me 7 minutes to exit the building. One of my friends was with me and ran out of the building with me, when we exited the building he ran left, I ran straight out and he was killed by a falling piece of debris. It is still a rough day for me, and will probably always be.

NEVER FORGET!

I know I cannot even imagine the full extent of your experience, but my heart hurts with you -- particularly in the loss of your friend (friends?) in this way. I know that day will be a huge influence in the rest of your life, and should be for all of us as well! Thank you for trusting us with your experience.
