I remember the morning of 9/11/01.... where I was (several thousand miles from home visiting my ailing dad in Abbotsford, BC).... the panic as it was announced that the borders would shortly be closed until further notice, and I stuffed my things into my bag, rushed to the nearest border crossing, and was the second to last person/car allowed across before the gates were closed.... the impossibility of finding commercial transportation home to Ohio from the West Coast, and the long drive home over the next three days in the rental car.... the worry, fear, and emotions I felt and my family felt as they prayed for my safety and successful journey home.
But all that was nothing but inconvenience compared to those in NY, DC, and PA and their families' panic and agony! I don't ever want to forget their sacrifice, their loss, their heroism! May God bless each survivor, each family member.
May He also give special blessings to all the rescue, safety, fire, police, and military who go to work every day on our behalf, knowing that they may face their own 9/11 that day. Thank you all for your service!
