As I came into the driveway from my 10-day trip and hotter than he$$ out, I checked the oil temp on my LED readout....285 degrees! Is that normal? BTW, I'm using syn oil.

The way others talk this is normal for the TG but it doesn't mean it is normal for a Harley. I've seen bikes run over 300* oil temp and they are fine but I haven't seen them run that way for long because the owners always get rid of them and get something cooler.

I agree it looks like thats normal for the TG. I personally think it's to hot.

It's normal if your a HD service writer but to the rest of the free world it's frikkin HOT!

You are so right....stopped and asked HD service today. Tri-Glides run hotter than other touring models. 300-310* would need attention....285* ok:eek:

If they run this hot "normally", I wonder why they didn't come out of the factory with SYN3 like the CVOs?

If you run for any length of time at that temp and you are NOT running synthetic oil. I would suggest an oil change. Standard oil starts breaking down at that temperature. No problem with synthetic. All though that is way hot for a continues run.
