The M8 has much more power then my 103 had, ...I would just keep a sharp eye on the transmission's oil level....
I traded my "14 for the "18 because of the color and just did a 2700 mile trip from Ohio to Texas. I new motor definitely has more power than the '14 and in my opinion runs quieter. The mufflers have a deeper tone than previous years. Everything else is the same.
Is there a problem with the trans/oil level??

With my 17 Tri-Glide and many other M8 engines the oil from the transmission is going into the primary [chain case] And so far there is no viable fix... Do a search theres a lot of info on this...There is a short story about this on Page 5 May Motorcycle Consumer News Magazine...
stonecold over on the HD forum has identified the problem and has come up with a solution.Basically machining for a seal(s) in the clutch bearing housing 35260-06B. This cures the oil migration.HD of course will only sell him a limited quantity of housings so he takes your core to a machinist for the procedure.Cost is around $200.00 +- .Dont think this is a money making venture for him-probably lose his arse.Yeah I know what you're thinkin:"Why don't the MoCo contact him?"Surely you jest. With my 17 Tri-Glide and many other M8 engines the oil from the transmission is going into the primary [chain case] And so far there is no viable fix... The fact remains it's a warranty issue if you go fix it yourself ( and there's no guarantee that stonecold's fix work long term either ) You might as well kiss your warranty goodbye ! Harley should be fixing it not the individual owner !![]()
I've been dealing with the MoCo for over 50 years .I think I've figured out thire business model:Step one-deny there is a problem.Step 2:come up with a fix that the aftermarket figured out and call it thires.Step 3: offer the retrofit under thire Screaming Chicken label to previous year owners (a la compensator) at owners cost. Hey that business model has worked for them for 100+ years. Why change it?The fact remains it's a warranty issue if you go fix it yourself ( and there's no guarantee that stonecold's fix work long term either ) You might as well kiss your warranty goodbye ! You may be right on here
It would NOT shock me if HD had some one checking forums just because
It is obvious to me the Juneau Crew has NO real plan as of yet, so Why not hijack someone else s idea and claim it

Nope, went ahead and traded my 14 for the 18 tri glide for $12500 INCLUDES TAX out the door price, also included labor to swap over my CB, love jugs, foot pegs, seat with my back rest, rear bumper, my windshield, and my cupholder. Done deal...………….
Without running the #'s that sounds like a good deal. What dealer if I may ask?
