Harley sells almost everything they can build in trikes. They aren't interested in what a lot of people want, it is what they can make the most money from. To sell for the same price end product, the IRS is out of the picture.

If everyone quit buying the solid axle & told Harley they would buy only with IRS then Harley would change for the money. Bean counters run the company.......What can I say????

I mean why would any company want to make money for its shareholders??

I agree with Sloufoot to a certain degree. Maybe Harley had a poll and asked what people wanted.

1. Solid axle at no additional cost

or

2. IRS for $5000 more.

If they did I would have said solid axle and I'll bet the majority would say the same thing.

I can't in my wildest imagination, see paying that kind of money for an IRS. Now, if every road in America was full of potholes, I'd rethink that opinion. I ride 95% of the time on good roads = IRS not needed.

Even if they were both priced the same, I'd probably still prefer the solid axle because of the complexity of the IRS.

If the IRS were available from Harley before I converted, I would have gone that route instead of converting my 2007 Ultra. I love how my conversion rides, but would've loved to have the new look and features as well. The ride was more important than the look to me. Yes, I would've paid extra, and yes, I am a "bean counter" too.
