Just got a chance to test my new cb.. Very disappointed in that it will not transmit from the front drivers hook up. thought it might be my helmet cord---but much to my surprise when I used the helmet hook up with the passenger plug in it worked fine. Now I know I can take it back to dealer since it is under warranty--but try and find a dealer that know anything about the radios. Would prefer to fix it myself since I have determined that it is the cord on the bike that is causing the problem. Problem is trying to find out if the cord is a plug in or a complete radio harness. Yes I have the repair manual but it does not show it. Has anyone else ran into this problem and found out if it is a simple plug in cord or a complete harness???

Vic, I'm not familiar with this "new evolution" cb. Is it a new Honda product or some aftermarket unit? Does it use the OEM com cable output from the bike? If so you need to remove the left pocket to access the connector that cable is plugged into. I've never worked on the new style GL1800 so I'm not sure what is involve with that operation.

Before you got that far hook up helmets to both the front and rear positions and see if the intercom functions between the two. If it does then I doubt the cable is your problem..

Good luck with the fix. Keep us posted with the results please.

OK I see what that cb is.. I think it is suppose to use OEM hook up so do the intercom thing to rule out the cable...

If you remove left pocket you should see where cords, almost positive its plug and play type? Maybe transmit finger switch inop? All else working when hooked to cord?

After looking for some of the obvious finally found that the cable was not hooked up under the seat. Hard to find since some one had pushed both ends under the relay box. But now it is working fine. Thanks to a new set of eyes.
