2006 Lehman storm chirping and rough acceleration

Hey, folks, just joined the forum and new to trikes in general... I just got this trike and I’ve just gotten it running again; new battery, spark plugs, oil/filter change. Took it around the block, and when I give her some juice it starts to chirp and vibrate pretty hard until it get up to speed with less load on it. I did some prior research and most seem to say it’s the belt, but how does one go about adjusting the belt tension on this trike? Anybody else have this issue with theirs? Am I bogging it down when taking off? Is there a more appropriate rpm to be taking off with? Any and all advice is appreciated!

Donovan,

There is a procedure to checking the belt tension and proper adjusting.

It should be covered in both the Vulcan repair manual and the Lehman installation manual.

The web may have specs for the belt tension and I have the manual for installation.

Is it just the same as regular Vulcan tension adjustment? I only ask because we have the two wheels in the rear instead of one, and I don’t want to screw up the wheel track on the rear end... I cannot find anything online as far as technical manuals for just the Vulcan Storm kit, only on the Vulcan itself... But if the tension adjustment procedure is basically the same I can probably manage. I’ll just have to get into the bike a little deeper... Thank you!
