I've never really thought of being anywhere else.South Dakota would be on the short list if I were to leave.

Western South Dakota or Wyoming for the scenery, lack of crowds and roads would be top choices but I'm not a big fan of the cold or snow. Funny thing about northern Illinois where I had been living for over 55 years, I always said if I ever move, it would be somewhere south where it would be warmer. And then I moved to Wisconsin! Circumstances have me locked in here for a bit though. My other choice would be somewhere in eastern Tennessee. Weather would be more mild, lower property taxes and my pension would be tax free.

Southern Utah or Arizona. I have had enough cold weather. I never rode snowmobiles, and I can't ski any more so winter holds no more alure for me.

Somewhere warm year-round, other than California. I love Florida but the traffic is horrendous.

Every place has trade-offs. I love the San Diego area. But hate the traffic and politics. Eight to nine months of the year, I'm very happy where I live. But summers can be brutal. So, I usually do a road trip for a month or so to get out of the desert heat. (I'm on one now. Currently in Washington State.) So, I guess I'll just stay where I am and dream of tropical islands.....

I did choose in 1980 to leave the Chicago are moved to Miami and in 1992 moved down to the Florida Keys. Love it here.

We became FL residents 11 or 12 years ago. There are numerous places we visited throughout the country but there isn't a State I would ever actually move to.

Western South Carolina. Greenville or Spartanburg area. Jim you can have the San Diego Area. I have lived here for 54 years. Too freaking old to move now. The only good thing about Southern California area is since I bought my house in 1982 is that it has increased in value about 900 percent.

I grew up in Canada and moved here at 26. Been here 33 . I love to go back and visit but I couldn’t live there again I don’t believe.

Upping stakes and moving can be an emotional pain. I was sent to Saudi Arabia for 3 years so it was easy for me. No roots. While there I met a lovely 5’2” 120lb Canadian gal who became my Visa/wife. The change was easy. Then I discovered free health care. Now free car license plates. Cheap home taxes ($1700/year) and almost nonexistent crime rate, lovely neighbours, clean air and quiet countrysides. A far cry from what I was used to.

Where in Canada are you? As you know all places in a country are not the same.

I was the opposite, met an American woman. I moved from Toronto to North Carolina. From Non affordable housing and property to low cost of living, . For me Canada was a great country … but I like the model here better. My property taxes are $1600 btw.. lol
I grew up in Northern New Brunswick though and there the cost of living is low but the Healthcare system there just sucks. All my Family is still there.

I have been to every state, there is a lot of crazy, beautiful, and or just plain cool places in this wonderful country, but I moved from the IL/IA/MO area on the Mississippi River down here to Kentucky 25 years ago and I have to say it is hard to beat. Great roads, paved even, hills, lakes, woods, decent cost of living, good health care in my area, I love it! Now if they would just get my trike titled.
