Haveing spent some time trying to figure out how to get the abs working on my conversion i came across a thread on here saying the abs can be made to work on the front wheel .i have now gone into this and have done this mod on my 08 ultra and yes no ebs light on and abs working on the front .
so if anyone wants any info onhow its done just drop me a e-mail and will explain how it is done.:wave4:

I'm kind of 'old school'. The '09 Tri-Glide I inherited from my wife didn't have ABS, her new '11 does. Frankly I can't tell the difference. Ditto the 30 and 32 tooth drive sprocket. I may have to slip the clutch a bit more on the 09, or down shift more, but I can't feel much difference.

ABS isn't available on the Triglide, might be why you haven't notice a difference between the 2.

Wait, the '11 TG has ABS? I had no idea. I wish I had that on my '10. That front wheel just locks right up and slides on snow and rainy parking lots. I never understood why they didn't leave it on the front for my year.

The T/G 11 doesn't come with ABS' I rode in that last snow. [4/6 inches],
Went just fine have to stay off the front brake though.ThumbUp

OOoops, When I was looking for room to mount a power take-off to run the 5v electronics, there was plenty of room under the right cover on the '09. When I tried to use the same space on the '11 there was all kinds of 'stuff' under there. ASSUMED they were ABS. Guess that is why they stop the same.

They relocated the electrical for the reverse from under the seat in 09 to under the right side cover starting with the 10 MY.

Harley has never had the ABS on any year trike they make.

DFT IRS kit has the ABS working on the rear.

Im curious how DFT has managed to get ABS for the rear to work? Since the ABS speed sensor requires the specific bearing they install in the front and rear wheels to work. A buddy of mine has the DFT rear end and I didnt see anything other then the rear caliper from the rear stock setup

DFT took the bearing and mounted it to their center casting, installed a one to one belt from the bearing up to the drive shaft, now the bearing is turning at the same rpm as the drive shaft and it works just fine.

at Sturgis last year, Harley people came by the booth and looked at it and ask what the little belt was for........I said to run your bearing so the ABS works, he looked and looked and than said.......why did not we think of that....

the DFT ABS set up will only be installed on a kit for a ABS set up, non ABS bikes do not have it.

I talked to Leon about this back in 2009 at Sturgis. He said they would find away and they have. I had a Police RoadKing with ABS and was trying to keep it. Another reason DFT is a good conversion.

hi
well the only problem with that is if abs cuts in on the rear it will release both rear brakes and as it does not have sensors on both wheel and for it to work on both wheels i would think it would not be possable with this system.

The DFT kit only runs the one disc in the center of the unit. And that disc and the caliber are the same parts from the bike, in other words the parts are all from Harley.

I also know that Motor Trike is able to use the ABS on their independant suspension kits as well. From what I understand their engineers studied the bearing and how it "senses" with the pick-up and designed their own pick-up for the sensor. I've ridden one of their harley's with ABS on it, and in wet weather, it makes a HUGE difference during evasive maneuvers.

As far as the ABS separating the front and rear wheels only, even most vehicles use this method as well. It's only recently that anything other than high end vehicles utilized TRUE 4 wheel abs proportioning.
