Well, there I was, walking through the front door of my HD dealer, to pick up my valve stem extender everyone is getting for their air shocks. Right inside the door, they have a brand new sparkly clean Big Blue & Black. The blue/black combo reminds me of the 2004 SE Electra Glide I wanted so bad, but couldn't find in California. So anyway, I slowed down to take a look. No problem. Went up and grabbed my valve stem thingy from the counter, chatted a bit, then said my good-byes and headed out. On my way out, I gotta go right by this same blue/black triglide except this time I get to look at it for about 20 feet or so. Of course the overhead lights hit the metalic paint "juuuuust right" and I stopped dead in my tracks, turned around and hunted down the owner. I said, "Why did you have to put that triglide by the door, you're killin' me." After a bit of a laugh, I asked how a red 2010 TG would fare in the used inventory and she said very well. So we talked a little bit more and reached a deal. They took very good care of me on this one!!!
They also switched my most valuable add-ons from my 2010 to my 2012. They pulled and returned my MCHitch and associated plug and play 4-pin wire harness to me. I'm trying to see if MCHitch will sell me the pieces that make it fit the 2012. Crossing my fingers on that one, otherwise I got one for sale!
One thing I learned on the way home was if I had done the 30T sprocket first on my 2010, I probably never would have installed the SE-255s. Even with the 2010 dyno tuned, the stock 2012 gearing and cam "feel" close enough that a replacing the cams wouldn't be cost effective. Plus I should be back to running comfortably on 91 octane again. I ran stock mufflers on the 2010 so that was a wash between the two trikes.
I'll be installing the valve stem extender (LOL, imagine that!), and Dennis' baffle and deflectors. Have to get a new lift kit. I REALLY MISS THAT LIFT KIT!!!!! I didn't realize just how much better the triglide handles the curves with the lifts installed. I do now! One more thing. It really stunk not having the deflectors and baffle for the ride home. The buffeting was nuts!
Pix to follow when the sun decides to come back out.
