Wondering why more are viewing HD Vs Honda

Not to start a heated discussion but I'll add my 2 cents worth, Since 2009 Harley has sold out of their OEM Tri-Glides, this past weekend, wife & I were out riding and I commented to her that every bike that we seen on our travels were about 98% Harleys, you don't see that many GoldWings around here like you used to.......tis:Shrug:

Dealers don't tell you that when they trike the goldwing, honda will void the warranty. I had a problem in west Texas and the dealer would not repair it and I have the extended warranty that the dealer sold me.

15 months old and 25,000 miles. Out at all times of the day or night. In ALL weathers. In Maine as I type. Boston area next week. Tucson next month. Might be going by too fast for most to notice my Tri-Glide. I'll try and wave to all the people in cars that should be riding...I think I had too much sugar tonight! :Joker3:

Without any debate on which trike is better (They both have their pluses and minuses) HD is selling a factory trike with a factory warrantee. The Goldwing is a VERY good bike/trike but it is a conversion with all the issues of fighting the warrantee problem if it arises. People are buying the HD because they are getting a factory warantee. Alot are not interested in a conversion.

Hey All, In late May we bought a '11 TriGlide. Already had a '98 H-D Fatboy and really enjoy it. We used to have a Honda Wing and enjoyed it also. We have looked at Trikes for a while and always thought the Wings were kinda large, might not be that much larger than the H-D but we liked the looks of the H-D and purchased it. THEN I found TT after the fact. Wow, thought I'd screwed the pooch. (Sorry Ladies). Since then I have decided to leave it stock and see what happens, comming up to 5000 mi. with just one heat problem 3 wks ago in N.C. Gonna get service and download Fri. Gonna make the best out of the situation. Got too much invested to give up and think there is a solution some where without dumping a load ($) into it. Got some ideas of my own. I have obtained a lot of knowledge from TT and really appreciate everyones knowledge and kindness to share it. I check most of the sites, never know what you will pick up........

I/WE, Wife had her own for a while, have ridden several kinds of bikes and don't really care what anyone else rides as long as they are out there having fun. 2, 3, or even one, we will share the road with ya........We have ridden with all makes and models and belonged to GWRRA for many years. Just now is that we are on a H-D TriGlide havin fun at 66 & 65 yoa.

Just Keep The Wind In Your Face and Ride Safe...........ThumbUp

I should have better defined comment to mean Honda trikes Vs HD trikes.

There are not many HD trikes around here but several Honda trikes.

I think there are a couple reasons you see more posts on the HD forum than the Honda Forum. First, since production of the TriGlide started in 2009 there are just more Harley trikes out there than Wings. Second, There are more performance mods readily available for Harleys, both Triglides and conversions, than Wings and lots of folks are seeking info and advice. Also have to consider the inherent engine heat issues that are frequently discussed on the Harley Forum. I considered buying a pre-owned Goldwing Trike before I converted my Ultra but finances precluded that option. I don't think the disparity has anything to do with which trike is "best". They're both great machines!!

Don't know the answer for the rest of the country but I've seen very few H-D trikes here in Eastern NC. Maybe 5 in the past month as opposed to 5 times that many Honda trikes, not counting my 2. Don't recall ever seeing a H-D trike at a PGR run down here. To me it really a matter of preference.

I've had harleys since I was 14 years old ( i'm 62 now ) but if Honda would came out with a factory trike I think I would own one, but I would still have to have a harley or two around just to play with.

I think most of you may have flunked corporate Honda three wheeler history 101. At one time Honda made a three wheeler in the form of an ATV. At one time a lot of those three wheelers were very unsafe and many people were getting hurt or killed IN ROLL OVER ACCIDENTS so the U.S. government hauled them off to court and made them stop making them anymore. Honda still holds a grudge against the American government for ruining their very unsafe profits (I mean products).

The ATV they produced was not for road use and it was very UNSAFE.

We used to have three of them, and I am surprised Mike lived through all the flips and accidents he had on them....SERIOUSLY!!! Some of them were potentially life threatening, and it wasn't that he was taking huge chances. The smaller one our kids rode, we put a governor on to minimize their risk. They fussed, but they are still alive and well :D
You are quite right that they are not in the same class with the road-worthy trikes we all ride now!

I have my own Personal Preferences in Trikes, Motorcycles, and Scooters......but I don't think Anyone has ever manufactured Anything with Wheels on it that I can't have FUN with..... :Trike1:

So do I not know where to look, or is there indeed no poll within our group as to what kind of trikes we own?

Loner, in most cases, our personal rides are listed on our profiles under 'About Me' or shown in the profile Albums. I don't know if there is a fact sheet listing who has what ride, because some of us change from time to time, and keeping up with brands would be a full-time job! Some, like Bazooka and skuuter, have one or more of several brands and models.

We're very proud of our GW1800 CSC - it was March's Trike of the Month!

I understand, but wouldn't it be nice to just get a snapshot of the types of trikes owned by members? We'd need to do multiple votes for those of us who own more than one trike, perhaps. Just a thought as I've wondered myself how the ratios of Goldwing and Harleys run (the two most prevalent brands it seems, but then who knows?).

Let's all squeeze in all the riding we can now 'cause cold weather is just around the corner (for most of us anyway).

If you would check out the thread of "Trikes we own" in the poll section it'll give you a idea of why it's difficult to get the #'s as not many people respond to the questions that are asked of us. In other words if we don't reply to the surveys, we won't get the answers. Thats my thought on the matter.....tis

Another issue with a poll is that most probably only view one or 2 groups. So it is hard to get a vote from every one. I normally only view the Honda one and the Stallion groups.

Ride with a really fun group of Trikers in the LA area. Mostly HD. Mine and a couple more are the only GLs. As a matter of fact, just rode a Toy Run, sponsored by HD.Fun! As Skuut said, as long as it has 2 or 3 wheels, we can have fun on it! Still, would be nice if Honda did come out with a factory trike!

just got done with a 950 mile trip down to Tucson. seen a total of 12 trikes along the way, 5 triglides, 6 wings and a can am. trikes are getting more popular everyday, and I think at some point Honda will come out with a factory trike. Also would like to thank Leslie and Nancy as well as all the others for their encouragement in making this very time restricted trip. I had a great time.

I've ridden Honda most of my life...even had the old trikes, you mention . My only comment here is that if Harley came out with a water cooled engine, I'd likely own one too, but not until then. And- Think about this... "If" Honda was to make a factory built trike, how many more local/american jobs would be lost. I believe that alot of the kits out there being put on Honda chassis' are as good as any product Honda is likely to come out with...if they did. It just sucks about the warranty issues.;)

I've been riding my 02 wing with roadsmith for almost 10 yrs.Thought about going HD because it sits lower and riding position looked a little more comfortable.Stop at a HD shop and me and the wife took one for a ride.We both agreed we didn't like the cornering ,At a stand still it shook like a cement mixer,And had a lack of power.I suggest you ride both before spending your money.I'm staying with my Goldwing. Oh yeah I didn't have to send extra on engine modes to keep up with 2 wheelers.

in the later yrs the honda 3 wheeler (ATV)
had the longer modified front and i considered it safe,, it was easy to tell when the out side wheel was coming up,, in fact we had fun trying to ride on two wheels,, i wish i had never sold it. The early yrs had a short front fork and that is where it got the bad name.

I own a 2009 HD Trike and I can tell you that in my opinion if Honda did their home work and came out with a factory trike they would take over the market. I have always been a HD DIE HARD but I have owned my last one.
