Does anyone make a backrest that fits into the stock brackets in the body of a 17 Freewheeler that are further back towards the trunk? I put a tall boy seat on which gives me more room, and the seat goes back under the backrest pad, but my wife can’t slide to the back of the seat because the backrest is so far forward.

Any solutions out there ?

I also have the HD Sundowner tallboy seat, but no backrest. After looking at mine, I see what you mean.

I would think that you may have to get the same size tubing & bend you own.

Not sure tubing will hold up. The one I have is solid bar stock. I took the back pad off today and it give 4" more space to move back, but the bar is NOT comfortable. I'm gonna try to bend the bars, and hope the chrome does not crack and the alignment doesn't get screwed up. I talked to mu local HD parts guys, who is VERY open about his aftermarket books for his machines and he said he know of nothing out there yet. Gotta be a market . . . or maybe not???

Sure, buy your wife a 2020 Freewheeler.:p

Follow up here.

So I found a pad at Eagleskull.com and took a chance. URL is: https://eagleskull.com/backrest-and-sissybars/touring/small-smooth-pad.html

anyway, it came today and it fits. I do need to make longer steel tubes to slip over the screws. But my original screws and bracket still worked fine.

This pad pad is only 1.75” thick at the middle and much smaller profile.
