What Did You Do To Your Freewheeler Today?

Nothing today, but I'm thinking about it.:)

33° here in STL today, but 53 on Wednesday, so I will be doing a pre-ride check in preparation for my Thanksgiving day ride to my youngest sons house for the family thing. It was 55 & sunny last year also, so we are lucky.

I can't wait. I may try to get a ride in Saturday too.:Dorag:

If you are out and about on Sunday, swing by Doc's after ~10:30. I am working on my trike with a tech (I know the store is closed, but we can work without interruption during their downtime). Fitting up the new front end and bars and laying out final hardpoints for plumbing, wire harness etc. and for the machinist to put the final touches on the trees. Here they are BTW

I got a great ride in Thursday. The after recall operation of the clutch is improved, as far as clutch pull effort needed.

We are having rain all afternoon & evening, with a beautiful day forcast for Saturday, with sun and 64°.

Another ride is in order. The next 10 days after that are not great, weather wise.

The store is open on Sunday, but the service dept. is closed. I can't make it Sunday, I am riding tomorrow.

I got a great 125 mile ride in today in 64° sunny St. Louis. I rode with my oldest son, who has a 2015 Road Glide Special with every accessory in the catalog & a 120 cu. in. beast of a motor.

The worm is turning here, weather wise. We have rain snow mix on the way for tomorrow evening & we are in the 30's for awhile. I'm putting my baby to bed for a few days.

I ordered a rider backrest from:

http://www.grasshopperlimited.com/

The Freewheeler takes the touring low profile seat model.

Great price & American made. Kevin from DK Custom Products made the suggestion.

All orders till the end of the year get 10% off. That covered 75% of the shipping.

I started a new thread on this item with the details & total cost.

50° this afternoon, so I'm installing my rider backrest & doing a trike check & then riding .

Just an update: I got the Grasshopper rider backrest installed & after a 25 mile test ride, it gets the big thumbs up for quality fit/finish & support. For more info & pics, you can check out the specific thread in this forum.

I finally got a 75 mile ride in today. Except for distracted holiday drivers, it was great!

The new rider backrest is great & my FW is running fantastic . I put her to bed for awhile, as the next week here is not looking good, weatherwise.

I looked at it today in the garage. It was resting comfortably. It was 29° this morning .

It is forecast to be 55 & sunny this weekend. I will be riding.

Wind deflectors installed

Installed the JES wind deflectors on my 2017, took it for a short spin on the freeway, very impressed, GREAT product, huge reduction in airflow over the tank.

Added some bling to my wife's FW.

After watching several videos on "fix my hog" they advised checking clutch and brake control units if newer bars installed . I had high bars installed on 15 fw in march. I checked using inch lb torque wrench and factory specs from manual . Maybe due to stress flex but all torx screws were almost 1/4 to 1/2 turn loose.

I too have had that experience after about 200mi on the new trike. The clutch side became loose enough that the whole assembly fell and turned as I was riding down the highway.... that is when I wished torx were slotted screws

After a high "pucker-factor" ride back to the house I kissed the threads with a little blue locktite and torqued them up. No problem since

It was 60° & sunny here in STL. I got a very nice 125 mile ride in & my FW is running great!:Dorag:

1 item of note, when I got home & was emptying the trunk, I noticed the latch seemed loose. Grabbed my light & looked & 1 of the screws was missing & was laying in the bottom of the trunk.

I cleaned the threads, loctited them & re-installed. I then pulled the other side & did the same. Just something we have to keep an eye on.
