gl1500 driveshaft issue

i have 89 GWGL 1500 champion conv.. suddenly my drive shaft became disengaged on the fwy. i pulled the drive shaft and found the front sleeve was missing 2 allen screws the u joint is fine.. replaced and used permatex thread lock with reassembly

it did not appear to have ant on the other screws..

the drive shaft broke at the yoke about 8 years ago and was replaced ...had no issues since so i suppose i should be checking this from now on.

has this ever happened to anyone else??

I have heard of this happening from time to time. It is probably something that should be on your service checklist when changing oil. You would be right there with the engine cover removed. ThumbUp

thanks for the advice so its just not me....it hasn't been good this year, this happened last weekend, week before the battery died, 2 weeks before a sparkplug blew out of the cylinder

Driveshaft problem.

I have a 1990 GW and have had the drive shaft off a few times but never noticed those Allen screws, so thanx to your note I will definitely pay better attention!

If the Avatar picture is your trike, you have a Lehman with a different designed driveshaft.
