Ice Drags....

In Michigan. we do oval ice racing with cars on frozen lakes. 10 to 20 cars, wheel to wheel, no studs. With out studs, we just bounce off with little damage when hit. A few years ago we were trying out a new lake, and told the police what we were planning. On race day a State Trooper show up to observe. He stayed for a few minutes, than disappeared. A half hour later, he come flying up the access road, sliding into the parking lot. We thought he was pissed about something, but he came out the patrol car grinning from ear to ear. He had been across the lake with radar and caught four of us side by side, going over 90 mph into a corner and coming out still over 70. The ice had a 2 inch layer of corn meal like snow that gave us unbelievable traction.

I only quit because of global warming. Not enough ice to make it worth building a car.
