What did you do to your Trike this week?

Didn't like the idea of an ice chest on the tongue of our CSC Escapade trailer because of the added tongue weight. So I made a frame out of scrape lumber laying around the garage to carry an ice chest directly over the axle inside our trailer. We will put the ice in a big ziplock bag so we don't have any leakage inside the trailer.

Ready for Maggie Valley now!!! :good:

Great idea and looks like good workmanship on the cooler holder/divider!

When I had my tongue split, so as I could put my Donkey trailer in my truck, I never put the cooler rack back on the tongue. I remember when I had my cooler on the tongue, I would clear the trunk so I wouldn't have as much weight in the rear of the trike with the added tongue weight.

With the GL-1800, I never had a problem pulling my trailer. With 100hp, I never knew I had a trailer behind me.

Besides, gonna get a new radio....highway mounts and pegs.Permanent DAV license plate. Made matching shift pegs, the front a little longer than the heel shift.

Hey everybody, busy as bees..How about a few photos..Love to see what everybody has done!

Rosy If have done my best to let everyone see the fruit of my labor, Old Shiney is well known around here. We may need a seminar on how to post pictures and set cameras back to lowest Pixel setting. This forum is not the most picture friendly place just sayin it took me quite a while to figure out how to get it done. PaPa Zook should probably look at the aspect on loosening up the size of pictures. With Photo Bucket pricing going up we need to get everything right here. Just my opinion  ride safe fred

I discovered that the HD dealer put the rear light cover with the clear box for the license plate on the right side of my Freewheeler. The left one over the plate doesn't have one, but it did pass inspection.

As part of my pre-ride check I do make sure the lights and turn signals are operational before I go out in public, but I usually don't put the garage door down, turn out the overhead light then check them but today I did.

Apparently you could see the license plate with the light it gave, or the tech missed it on inspection. If you inspected the trike during the day, it would be hard to see the light anyway, but at night time, your police would notice it, and that's not good! You never want to get stopped by the police. "Macon County Line", never to be seen again! LOL

Please let us know if the dealer will correct his mistake, or if you had to do it!

Have a great weekend!

I guess lots of Harley people are installing engine coolers.

Did see what can happen in Bike Week in NH, when you had to be in line a long time, overheated and had to push the bike to the side so it would cool off. My Wing did go up at tad when we were in that long line. Hurray for water cool in a way!

Great job guys, they really look good! I like the installation instructions, have two beers per hour in the heat! As my 5 year old Grandson would say, Hydrate or die! LOL

Put the Oberon adjustable clutch lever on my 17 Tri-Glide...Well actually my Son did it took him only 5 minutes....And like every thing else in life, There are compromises , The lever could/should have been two inches longer, And if you set the adjustment knob too close to the grip you can only start the Trike in Neutral.., So the adjustments are limited..

Like i said there are compromises...Lucky that it works for me, ''But'' if i had needed it to be just one more click closer i would have had to send it back...

Don't tell me the lever is Year specific. Like it would work on a 2016, but has problems with the 2017. I have seen that happen, just a model change will offset reach.

Like you said, compromise, and you were fortunate to have your son there. If I have major jobs to get done and need my son, well he visits the house once a year. He is far away! Oh well, at least he comes home, and loves being here, when he can!

It works from lever setting 2 TO 8... #1 the closer setting to the grip will not activate the start button when in gear...In neutral it will start... So if you don't need the #1 setting '[I don't] its a keeper.... Dare i say i can now speed shift like a sport bike..[Honda]

And my Son had to come home... He had to pick up his two Daughters that my Wife and i were watching all day...:D

Leo, we are not as young as we were once were, so it takes longer to get your stamina back. Take a couple of days off, a few naps, and soon you will be ready for another long haul!

Good luck my friend on your endeavors! I am sure they will get finished. Then you can sit back and say, "Phew", that's done!

Hi Rosy, Have been sleeping and napping a lot this past week. Started doing things around the house today, even rode trike in the back yard. Anxious for my order to come in. Great to be home!

Leo, it is always great to get home from far away places! As they say, " There is nothing like home, to a lonely heart", or did I just make that up! LOL

Leo, summer is going by the wayside, I can not believe it is almost August, and I still have not started my "To Do List" on my trike! AARRGGHH!

It seems like the older you get, the more you wish the days were 30 hours long and there were 10 days in a week!

Please, let us know how you make out with your "stuff", to put on, or do!

Broken Cowl Tabs GL 1800

My left side cowl has two broken tabs, which a shop which I will not mention broke and said it was like that..No it wasn't, but couldn't prove it.

They hold screw clips #23. Has anyone ever repaired these tabs using epoxy glue?

If you have, please contact me, so I may learn your secret!

Thanks,

Rosy

Avon Trike Tire Report

OK, with summer into full swing and many trikes hitting the road, does anyone have anything to report on how the new Avon Trike Tire is wearing?

How does it look, scalping, wearing, or other things going on?

What we know so far is, the Avon tire rides a lot softer than the other two most popular front tires, grip really good on the twisties, and tire pressure is about the same as the other two.

Thanks for your input!

Shot in the dark here, I've repaired broken plastic parts by straightening a paper clip and cutting it into small lengths Drilling into both parts,[I have jewelers drill bits] and sink the paper clip pieces into the drilled hole ...Sough'a like rebar into cement , Then J-B Weld the seam...

I hope i explained it right?

You did explain correctly, BUT, getting to the broken tabs is very difficult, the whole top of the GL 1800 has to come off.

I explained my delema to my shop and they said they were going to use epoxy and try to fix them, when they replace the air cleaner, which as you know, on the GL 1800, the whole top of the bike has to come off. I was going to attemp to do it till I watched the YouTube video and saw how difficult it was going to be. I'll pay $174 to have it done. At my age, and memory, I would have to have an iPad next to me and keep replaying the video from start to finish, maybe, and I say maybe, then I could get it correctly! LOL

I suppose it isn't like going to the cellar and forgetting what I can down to get, because I would not be going by any door jams to steal your memory, and that's my story and I am sticking to it!

Thanks for the info..

Rosy
