Finally got to put my De Cat header on Saturday along with the FL-XIED -10. Today I drove it for about 50 miles and noticed a lot of deceleration popping.Im running the stock A/C with screaming eagle street cannon slip on's . Should I adjust the FL -XIED I assumed it came pre set cause the asked me when I ordered it what I was running . I believe it is set at 50/50 does anyone have experience with these and what settings are you using. Thanks in advance for your help

I have used the Night rider ieds for a few years always had a decel pop and even an up shift pop. Never did get rid of it adjusting it up or down. Pull the clutch in and do not down shift use the brakes and it will go away. They do work well. Doc

I have the adjustable FL-Vied-10s on my 2014.

65% ---- Stock A/C and mufflers, decatted stock pipes.

No popping.

Welcome to the forum!

If you have the FL-ViED-10's they are adjustable the X version is not. Every engine is a bit different, so adjusting it up or down and riding it will let you know what setting it has the best power at...that is where it should be adjusted to.

.

Regarding decel pop-

Decel popping does Not damage your engine...it is simply unburnt fuel that is burning in the exhaust tract after exiting the engine.

Decel popping occurs when one of two things are present.

1. The bike is so lean the exhaust is superheated and is burning the unburnt fuel that is in the pipes (there is always some unburnt fuel in the pipes no matter how lean). This is very rare.

2. The AFR IN THE pipes is just right to burn the unburnt fuel. This is quite a common occurrence when free flowing pipes are installed (whether or not a free flow A/C is installed). It can also occur if there is an exhaust leak that is introducing extra air into the exhaust tract.

It is always a good idea to check for exhaust leaks.

Also, check for intake leaks at the air cleaner and at the intake manifold/heads.

Another way to change the AFR IN THE Pipes is to install Thunder Torque Inserts.

If you don't like decel pop, and don't want to change the AFR in the pipes by changing the baffles or adding Thunder Torque Inserts....

It is absolutely possible for a tuner and someone who knows how to use it to tune the decel pop out.

HOWEVER, the methods used to tune the decel pop out of very open pipes are almost always at the sacrifice of performance and/or MPG.

An open pipe with the best performance tune is almost always going to have decel pop.

I asked Night Rider where to set these (have not put them on yet) and they said 75%. From what I have read, that seemed high to me. I think I will start at your 65% and see what happens. My 16 is stock except for de-catted head pipe.

if you are running a decat head pipe with stock mufflers you can turn them up a bit. the free'er flowing the exhaust is the lower you must run them or you will get alot of popping in the exhaust. i ran mine at 75%, 50% but now have them at 25% with no cat and free flowing mufflers. i thought it was alittle on the rich side before. remember these things add some fuel even when turned all the way down. the higher rpm's the engine is turning the closer it's getting to being out of closed loop fuel management and will be running richer anyway. i could feel it the throttle was not as sharp when turned up higher. doesn't take much to make it run better.
