What size rear tire for the front

Okay I'm sure this has been covered before but here goes,my buddy has a 2009 tri and is wanting to put a rear tire on the front he is staying with a 16 inch he just wants to know how big will fit without modification 140,150 ?

I'm running an American Elite Rear tire up front on my '14 TG. It is an MT90B16 which is 130mm and there is very little clearance left.

He should try the new Trike specific tire by Avon.

I'm running a Dunlop Elite 3 MU 90 B 16 rear (mounted backward) and there's about a 1/2" between the fender and each side of the tire. I wasn't able to find another tire that was 16", but this tire handles and wears so well I'm going to replace it with the same thing when the time comes unless the new Avon turns out to be leaps and bounds ahead of the mileage that I'm getting.

Some years ago when I had a tire gauge that read in MM (I gave all that stuff away when I retired) I checked the tread depth on a new Elite 3 rear tire as I always used them on my Electra Glides and it was 11/32. I seem to remember most other tires being 9/32 at that time. Don't know if new E-3's are still 11/32. With the way everybody(tire manufacturers) is cutting back everywhere they can to save every penny they can, I doubt it.
