Recently I changed my oil and filter for the first time. The filter and drain plug on my 2006 GW are exposed, no cover? Is there suppose to be a belly pan or cover over this exposed area? If so are they difficult to take on and off?

Do you have Aqua Shields Bill. If so I expect the way they mount up front prevents the two part belly pan from fitting over the oil filter area. The MT Adventure I use to have was like that. I thought about carving up that piece but decided it wasn't worth the effort. I had nearly 50K on that conversion without a problem. :xszpv: :xszpv:

I don't know about your MT but my RS running boards do not interfere with 2 part belly pan. Need to ask MT owners specifically to see how theirs mount.

My MT is a Spyder which was installed 04/27/07. I don't see that my running boards would interfere with the belly pan. I guess it's no big deal but to me would be nice to have that part of the engine protected against road dirt, rocks and the like.

I know the Roadsmith HT with the aqua shields has no issue with the two piece McGuyver belly pan. Just take two screws out to change the oil and filter.

If it's a two piece like a McGuyver belly pan, the front cover could be missing or left off

Did you buy your 2006 used?

I seen sometimes owners just leave the front section off to get at the drain plug and filter easier.

Yes I bought it used and I'm just trying to get it back to it's original state. I greatly disliked things which have been messed with and not returned to its original state. Luckily the GW only needs a couple of things to be back in OEM shape.
