HD 110 Bolt-on W/ GMR 577 cams and Dragos Stage II Heads on RGC Trike

At 61 I still have a need for the wind in my face, but with health reasons I was starting to struggle riding 2 up (which we do 90% of the time) on my 2013 RGC CVO that had Dragos Exhaust and TC-24 Cams. Long story short: Rather than take a chance of hurting My Lady and myself, I sold the CVO and did bought the trike.

I bought the trike used with 12,XXX miles on it, built as follows’:
2010 RGC 96 CI with a Motortrike Conversion
Weight: 1278 #’s with full tank of gas after conversion
103 motor SE stage II big bore kit
HD 255 cams
2-1 Thunder Header
SE Clutch spring
Dealer Stage II download tune
IMO, this trike was seriously lacking in power
The trike really struggled to get moving from a dead stop, but once going it did “OK” in 1[SUP]st[/SUP] thru 4 gear.
It struggled to maintain 70-80 MPH in 6[SUP]th[/SUP] gear going up any decent hill especially if you were going into a headwind. IMO with the additional weight and cross wind section the trike just did not have enough power and I was constantly downshifting to 5[SUP]th[/SUP] gear to maintain speed.

I seriously considered going with a 117 Build or a 124 S&S motor. However, I was reluctant to spend Appx $10K (+ or-) because of the ROI.

After talking with Steve at GMR, we decided to build a 110 CI TQ monster.
HD 110 Bolt-on Kit with Jugs and Flat Top Forged pistons
GMR 577 cams and S&S Lifters
Dragos Stage 2.5, 85 CC heads with 1.9 intake and 1.615 exhaust valves, CNC ported, Hand blended, designed for lo-lift velocity as well as hi-lift flow (ACR’s installed as well)
.40 head gasket
Compression set at 10.25
Dragos H-Pipe Duals (sound of true duals, but still makes great power down low with the crossover chamber)
Stiffer SE clutch spring
Steve does not have a trike dyno, he used a tune from one of his identical builds from a couple of months ago and then fined tuned it with a Green TTS module. I asked him what kind of power he thought it made, he said it would be somewhere around 120 to 125 SQ on a 2 wheeler, but that my trike drivetrain was not as efficient as a 2 wheeler.

I took delivery on Friday and put about 100 miles on her, this build has exceeded my expectations:
Riding 1 up: (I have not twisted it above 5000 RPM yet)
I can ease out the clutch with no additional throttle and it will take off without stalling
A quick twist of the throttle anytime in 1st will lift the front wheel, it will lift it in 2sd but you have to be in the power band.
This build really builds TQ from idle up, there is no flat spot.
Freeway driving 70 to 80 mph is a breeze, no downshifting necessary.
I don’t drag race my bikes or do burn-outs, but I do love a 2sd, 3[SUP]rd[/SUP], 4[SUP]th[/SUP] gear, twist the throttle TQ rush and that TQ rush is BACK!!!!!
I am extremely pleased and feel that my $$$ were well spent. All total about $5.5K for this build and an acceptable ROI to me
I will update with a Riding 2 up review later this week
