Late nighters---unite!!!

Easy enough if they are asleep. I just go to bed when I get tired and get up when I wake up. One of the good things about retirement. Normally I'm hitting the sack by midnight, but they'll just wake me up when they arrive if I do plus I have the feeling they expect me to greet them. The wife is long passed out.

On my days off I'm usually in bed before midnight. It's probably not the most healthy thing to do by day sleeping 5 days a week, then night sleeping the other 2.

And most are asleep. Just caught one in the shower. They aren't supposed to be in there after 10:30pm. He kept giving some crap about he had to have a hot shower because of his arthritis, and the shower doesn't get hot during the evening. Bull crappity, I say.

Hey Folks,
hope everyone had a pleasant Easter. As usual, I ate too much. Had our kids (adults) over with their families. The cat hid all day.

My son is working on a deal for a 2014 Streetglide Special. Pretty thing with 6000 miles. I saw the pix today. Hope it goes through.

Forgot all about Easter! I brought leftover deviled eggs and mac n cheese for my lunch. I also ate way too much today.

Just received a text and they'll be here shortly, gotta sign off for now. I'll catch you around the corner Scott.

Alright. See you next time you stop by.

Is your wife going with you on this trip? And what areas do you plan on hitting? Sounds like a trip worthy of Kevin of DK Customs. He's been to Bella Coola Canada last year, and to the Arctic Circle year before last. There is pic heavy posts about both trips buried here somewhere.

Hopefully you will post a pic heavy post when you get back. He did his with several hundred pictures, but he would update it a day here, and a day there until he completed his trip. The first year he tried to upload everything while he was actually out on the trip, but last year he waited until he got home and uploaded everything chronologically.

No my wife is staying behind. It's my brother in law on his new HD Ultra Limited and two friends on their Goldwing's. All 2 wheels for them. They still live in Miami. They plan on coming up to my house is Tennessee and we will leave from here. We plan on visiting the following states; Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota before returning home. I have been out west before with my son who is an Eagle Scout and with our Lance truck camper.

I plan on posting every night of our trip, as it is happening.

I know what you mean about sleeping in the day. When I was young and before I was drafted my employment was at an Army Ammunition Plant. Changed shifts every month. Never knew if I was coming or going and my job was dismantling 155 artillery shells that didn't pass inspection . I didn't go back after I was released from the Army even though I could have bridged my time. No way! Go figure they placed me in Ordinance and sent me to Nam. Those experiences got my tail moving toward a better future. It worked out in the wash.

BillR, I hope he gets it too, the StreetGlide is a sweet looking machine.

I'll be looking at your thread every day. I love seeing pictures of places I haven't been. The only exceptions are Nevada and Cali, and I'm sure you'll be going places in those states I haven't been.

Hey Catfish, wanted to say glad to see you back around!

Thanks Scott.

I've had a wild day with a house full, no not poker. All the little ones are bedded down and adults winding down watching comedy youtudes cracking up with laughter. See what I mean by winding down. When I don't think they'll miss me I disappear for short spurts of time. They want my attention so I guess that is a good thing. Catching heavy static now, gotta run.

Glad to hear you're having a good time. Family time is good time, especially when youtube is involved.:)

Another boring night almost gone. Another boring week almost in the books. But in my line of work, boring is good. ThumbUp

Went looking at campers this week. We were looking to trade, but were offered less than a third of what we paid 3 years ago for our present camper. It's craziness. I came an inch of telling the salesman to stick it when he told me that. We owe almost $20K more than what they offered.

I told him what we owed and he said, "All you have to do is come up with the difference." That is what made me want to tell him to stick it. My wife sensed it, dug her nails into my shoulder and said, "Let's get out of here."

We'll try again in a couple of years. Should have some more equity then, plus we'll have a couple of big ticket items paid off. I told my wife I have a 3 year plan. She shuddered at this. :D

The plan is to get a diesel truck (preferably a F-250 power stroke) when I've paid 3 years on my present truck so it will have positive equity in a trade. Then maybe buy a fifth wheel to go along with it.

We shall see.

Man , you get a lot of overtime, where I work they want to give us comp time. Not much in to camping, my wife's idea of roughing it, is poor room service. Must say that after over 20 years in the Army, I've camped all I want to, but glad others enjoy camping.

Oh, believe me, our camper is posh. It's like pulling your own condo along with you. It's 35 feet long, and the back half is 14 feet wide once the slides are out. We have a rear entertainment model that has a 42 inch TV with DVD player. We also take a bluray player with us to hook up, plus we bring along the kids Wii.

I don't really call it camping. We don't do much outside.

We tried a older model Winnebago and have had a pull behind, just wasn't our thing. I often wish we did like it so we could travel and see the country.

We have found it IS our thing. It wasn't for me, until my wife blindsided me with the fact that she was green with envy when her brother got a pop-up for his family. I would have never believed it out of her. So, we went camper shopping. What we came home with was much more than a pop-up. It was a lot more of a camper than she was even expecting. I don't do well regular camping. I want it to be like I'm in a house. That's how our little home away from home is. We took to it like ducks to water. Bridget (oldest daughter) and me are the set-up people on the outside, while the wife gets everything going on the inside.

The wife and the younger daughter stay in the truck while Bridget and I do the set-up (leveling). Then when we are done, they go inside, roll out the slide-outs and usually starts our first meal. While she's doing that, I hook up the water and sewer.

This summer, we have made plans to camp on Jekyll Island in Georgia. Our first 2 seasons of owning the camper, we went to Tybee Island, GA. Jekyll is a lot less commercialized, and therefore a lot less expensive. We will be taking our bikes along for transportation. We bought a trailer called a Wike to pull Raeden in. I wish that she could ride a regular bike, but alas, that will never happen. She is very happy being pulled in the trailer though. She squeals and laughs the whole time.

When we had a young family the cost was out of the question and now that we have an empty nest it is out of the question. I would love camping, but my wife won't even consider it a possibility. I've tried to change her mind, but not succeeded, and finally realized it will never happen. It would be a great family activity, and lucky you, your wife is all in.

I don't know if you've done it or not, or what kind of money you'd like to spend, but if you are willing to spend $30K plus, these 'campers' are like condos. When I'm saying 'done it or not', I'm saying take her to a dealership and have here look at these campers. If you have the inclination to spend $50K, it's just REDICULOUS what these campers look like!! They have recliners, sliding glass doors, 50 inch TV, etc etc etc. It's really unbelievable. A couple of campers we looked at even had French door refrigerators. I about freaked when I saw that.

My wife talked me into going, and I was totally against it until I saw the camper we picked out.

I've taken her looking every so often to see if she is weakening. A couple of her brothers own 5th wheels and another one has an all contained monster. She just would rather trike and grab a hotel at dusk. I can't complain and want her to remain happy. ;)

Understood. Happy wife, happy life.

Indeed true about happy wife. Her brothers have offered us their rigs to use thinking it will persuade her into changing her mind and she has refused every time.
