Late nighters---unite!!!

Slow night at the joint, slow night on the thread.

Let's see if I can guess what people are doing tonight...

Steve: I'm hoping he's like a little kid with a toy, gazing at his new trike.

Bill: Out playing or listening to some Bluegrass music somewhere.

Catfish: Still has family visiting.

1dn5up: Asleep for a little while longer, but I'll bet he's up soon.

Ret1SG: Who knows...maybe dreaming about a camper.

Good am. Slept a lil later than the norm. Was playing plumber till 10pm with a clogged sink drain. Found a 2lb hair ball, from the housekeeper. :gah:

Is YOU the housekeeper? And if so, doesn't say much for how much hair you have left.
Not from me, got more hair in my ears ! It from the dizzy blond that occupies my space. There like cats, no matter how many times you throw them out, there BAAAAAACK ! - - - Updated - - -
Well no trike yet. Now I am told the first part of next week. What does that mean?
Means have more patients. And hopefully worth the wate.

Scott:

Different family, the kids went back to Omaha Thursday evening and a brother of my wife and his wife dropped in from Sedalia Mo on Friday for the weekend. We operate the TnT Hotel. Between us we have 16 brothers and sisters and there is never a dull moment.

Guilty as charged. They really liked us. Got us to play an extra half hour. IMG_1343.jpg

Feel your pain... But just wondering , How/ Where did you find the outfit thats doing your conversion ??:AGGHH:

First I searched the Motor Trike website for a list of dealers nearby. Since we (the wife and I) had already ridden a CSC, three years ago we wanted to complete the comparison with Roadsmith, Hannigan and Motor Trike. We went to KD Cycles in Alabama to ride the Roadsmith. But he only does conversions without the preload, unless it is expressing requested by the customer. Several hours laters we went to Southern Honda Powersports in Chattanooga (the largest Honda dealer in the country), or at least they claim it. Next up was the Hannigan, what a beast. Extremely long and it should of had one of those "Wide Load" signs on it's rear. Finally, we rode the Motor Trike Razor. All of these were on GL1800's. When we returned to the dealership and we both got off, she immediately said, "I like this one the best." It seemed a little odd to me since the net and this forum is full of opinions that the Motor Trike is the most uncomfortable conversion for the passenger. But my wife is used to riding on my GL1800, which has a 1,200 lb Progressive rear spring and Progressive Monotube's installed. Also I always would keep the rear jacked all the way up on the 25 preload setting. So a stiff ride was already in the seat of her pants. I also preferred the handling of the Razor, besides I thought it was the best looking of all the conversions (IMHO).

Now to answer your question. Southern Honda wanted too much money to do the conversion and first tried to get me to buy a new one, at the tune of $40,000 + tax. I had already been in contact with Richard at Motor Trike and he had suggested I take it to Alabama Motor Trike in Talladega, AL. I had numerous conversations with the owner there, however never visited his operation. Some of the positives from his company were, a personal approach to the build. He said he takes his time, once the kit has arrived, usually 1 week to assemble the kit, leaving no stone unturned. He solders all connections and uses heat shrink. He also said if I paid CASH, he would not charge me tax. So along with the recommendation from Motor Trike I was about ready to pull the trigger with them. Now the negatives. He required all the money upfront when I ordered the kit from him, and it would take about three weeks for MT to build and paint it. All the cash up front, was not something that I was comfortable with being a retired LEO and no recourse if something went wrong. Richard at MT felt that it was not a problem, but not willing to cover the funds if something wrong would happen. So I finally negotiated a deal with Southern Honda and only out down a small deposit. I wanted to order the kit from Motor Trike and have it factory painted, but they said they already had a kit in stock and their painter could paint it. They said it would be done within two weeks. That was over 7 weeks ago. Still waiting. As 1dn5up has stated, I need to be patient. That is all I have been.

Sorry for the long winded explanation. But that is a Reader's Digest version of the complete process.

Is that a U-bass you're playing?!?
Yep, and fretless, too. I have more fun with that than a barrel of monkeys. I like to watch the audience hearing a bass but looking all over for it. I usually spend 15 to 20 minutes explaining it to people who come up after the gig wanting to know that it is and where to get one.

I'll bet you're a little surprised that even I recognized it. Not many people out there play them.

I notice that your only 2 posts away from that magic number. PM me if you are still waiting to do what you told me.

I wish I was at a Bluegrass festival right now, it is my favorite listening pleasure. Catch'um every chance I get.

There's a Bluegrass festival that happens every summer about 30 miles from the house. Way more than a hundred people pull their campers there for it. It's just a field with no hookups whatsoever. I couldn't do it. Got to have at least electric and water. I guess I could buy a generator, but that would make me have to BUY a generator. Ain't happenin'.

Enough bluegrass activity around my area that I can easily go home at night and return the next day.

I wouldn't like a generator either - too much noise, even with the inverter type and then the extra fuel you'd need.

I thought that Honda made a series of generators just for RV's to quiet the noise. The last camper I had I bought a Honda generator for that, didn't use much fuel, was pretty quiet and it was the construction series. Good morning to all.

Good morning. I was just looking at some of the Hondas on the interwebs. A little pricey for me. But then again, I would never use one. If we can't camp in a full hook-up spot, we don't camp.

I mainly used my camper for hunting, since my wife didn't care for camping. Never stayed in a campground with hookups.

Good morning, I can't sleep in this morning.I have been working a lot of overtime and I guess I have just got use to getting up and going to work no matter how tired I am. My wife and I camp and enjoy it,even if we don't have electric, but we do have to have our showers. We have 2 campers. One to pull with the truck and one small enough to pull with the trike.Just up graded it . Sold the one I had and bought one from a board member here.If we don't have electric ,I have it set up so I can run off of battery for the things we need.I usually try to find a campground with electric when we are traveling on the trike. We went to Maine last summer ,stayed in motel 1 night.we were gone 10 days.

Yeah, well, I'm the softy in our family. My wife isn't opposed to 'roughing it'. She was raised as a Girl Scout from 1st grade and went pup tent camping quite a lot. She has sat around her share of campfires and made meals in the coals. She wasn't expecting what we ended up with when I took her camper shopping. In fact, she was shocked. In reality all she wanted was a pop up or a small bunkhouse type camper.

She says now though she couldn't live with anything less than what we have. I've corrupted her I reckon. :D

Good am, Did the camping thing yrs ago with the kids. Had a MH , and pop up. The housekeeper has a 400sqft park model trailer in a gated park. She calls it as: Glorified Camping ! Serves the purpose as for away from home goes. Also nice ride on scoot, have a few cocktails, burger, chill out, then crib tme.<br />

The lawn needs a cut, trees are blooming, things are green. Woke up to 28* and 2" of snow. Aaaaah!!
