Recall Work on Trike Conversion

A long time ago I read here cycle manufactures/dealers frown on doing warranty
work or recall none on bikes that had a trike conversions added.

I'm wondering if the bike manufactures had a recall on a engine or drive train for safety reasons
and the dealership refuses to do said recall because it's triked, how would the manufacture know why
the recall wasn't gone as a future record, especially if you keep getting notices in the mail?

Would the dealership record "trike work" in their records to the manufacture?

Been there done that.

Had an issue with the brakes on my GL1800 with Motortrike kit. There was a recall on the secondary master cylinder. Called the local dealer to see about getting the part replaced and they said that they didn't work on trikes. So, what do you do? Took it to my mechanic who does all my work. He did the work and I sent the paperwork in to Honda and they paid for the repair. Not sure what you would do if they didn't want to pay the repairs. The dealer I spoke with told me to see if I could find one that works on trikes. Well, yea but I don't want to haul all over the country. So, if it is a warranty issue you may be out of luck if the dealer doesn't work on trikes. He told me they didn't have a table for trikes.

Took my Motor Trike in last week to a non-trike dealership. There was absolutely no problems. I got a call 2 days before my appointment and they told me that they had done another trike, that day. Said that it took considerably longer than the previously reported 3 hrs. More like 6. Said no problem. Dropped it off and 5 hrs later, they called and it was done. No additional charges and brakes felt strong. Was very happy.

I didn't know Mother Honda would pay for the brake recall when using a non Honda dealer. What is the process... and you mentioned paper work. Is this a form from Honda? How do you submit and where do you send it.

I have a MotorTrike, and would prefer the installer to do the brake work, since he had to install/bleed and make sure the brakes were working properly, and figure he would be the one to make sure it's done properly.

2014+ HD computer

In the past, this has been dealer discretion but HD did some fancy computer upgrades in 2014 that uploads information to HD corporate when hooked up at the dealer. Corporate knows when the bikes have been tampered with. Indian also has an even more advanced kanban system that tells Big Brother on you...

Some of the trike manufacturers used "Triglide mode" to get around the bank angle sensor in 2014 HDs. 2015+, most have gone to "Bypass modules" that make the computer see a fake bank angle sensor.

2 downsides to this:
1 - The sensor bypass (& other elec mods) voids warrantee
2 - If you tip your trike over, expect fuel to come pouring out with you engine still running.
