We picked up our trike today after a rather long stay at our Honda Dealer. Along with the brake recall I had all the fluids changed. One of the rear brake lines was leaking and required a replacement from MotorTrike which took an extra week. After looking at the old brake line it appears that it had a hole or split where the line went into the flange. I also had the air cleaner changed which the old one wasn't terrible but did show ten years of use. The trike rides great and there is a big difference in the brakes for the better. So far I'm glad I got the recall and additional work done.

i tested the cruise control after your post and it works well. Since I'm the second owner of the GW is why I decided to change the fluids and air cleaner as I didn't know the service history. Now either myself or a dealer has been through the major systems of the GW. This gives me a time/mileage line/record for service and maintenance in the future.

Soft Rear Brake Feel After Brake Recall and Cruise Control Does Not Work

Got my 07 Trike back after the recall work was preformed and the rear brake is very soft, pushing down much farther that it did before. Took it back to the dealership and they say it is working fine, but to me does not feel fine - any thoughts why they would be saying this? Also the cruise control does not work now. It is a 2007 Goldwing with airbag and ABS brakes - Champion Trike kit

I did not have all the fluids changed, should I have done this?

I'm not familiar with the Champion conversions Tony. Do you still have linked brakes? If so, anything the dealer did will require total fluid purge and air bleeding to properly do the recall. They must have replaced the rear master cylinder per the recall because they did not get the rear brake peddle brake light switch adjusted properly. It is staying on and that is what is keeping your cruise from activating.

Sorry you are having issues. Most dealers are doing a good job with this recall..

You might want to give them another try.

Take along some honey.

I hear it catches more flies than vinegar. :xszpv: :xszpv: Just sayin'.. Don't put them on the defensive or you will have a battle on your hands. GOOD LUCK!! :AGGHH:

You say your trikes 10 years old. May I ask how many miles??
Im hesitant to have the air filter even looked at on mine due to the cost given by the dealer just for the labor.
Im also the 2nd owner and have no clue what shape its in after 6 years of age.

Our Goldwing Motor Trike has 21,000 miles on it. I viewed the air cleaner which was removed from the trike and while it wasn't near clogged it was time for a new filter. It was an expense but at least I know what I have and can plan for future service.

Thanks Bill
Im in the same shape. 2010 MT conversion with 25K on it. I put on 15K in 5 years. My local Honda dealer wanted over $700 for the I believe 24K overhaul.
I thought and still do think that's a lot of dollars. Most of the cost is of course labor.
The bike came from the Huston Texas area and from what the dealer I bought it from said the OP used it for basically 2 cross country trips in 2 years.
I guess I can wait it out and do it all at 32K. But for me that might be another 4-6 years at the rate Im going.
With me everything is time before miles.

Statute of Limitations on Brake Recall?

Missed out on the Brake Recall this year, just wondering if there is a statute of limitations on getting it done? Have not felt like riding it up to getting it done since I would need to get someone to go up and back. May feel better after the 1st of year. Mine is a 05

I spent way too much on our GW this year however it should be ready to go next year and is in good shape. The brake recall, air cleaner, added CB and reverse fixed will make me feel better about going on long rides. Since I bought the trike used I didn't know the complete service history. Now I have a record of what was done and when. The only remaining service item is the front brake pads which I'll inspect and replace myself this next spring. I'd rather spend the dollars upfront to prevent a problem than have a problem on the road. Can't wait for ridding time!! Come on Spring!!

Brake recall on GL 1800, Which years does this apply to ? I was told once they did the trike conversion, that eliminated the recall... true or false ???

Mine is a 2015.
