Late nighters---unite!!!

I've been neglecting the thread. Sorry guys. I've been a little pre-occupied with other things. I'm looking to replace my traded 40 S&W glock with a 45 ACP. Looking to find as good a quality used one as possible, as cheap as I can get it.

Don't get me wrong here...I LOVE my Kimber....but I've got Glock in my blood. Also been researching something for the wife to carry. I've been waffling a lot on that. I don't want anything with a safety, which I know sounds odd. I would rather get something with a long trigger pull instead. Having to turn off the safety would be too confusing at the wrong time, and could get her killed I think. Of course I'll have to get her in the habit of walking in the door at home, and walking straight to the safe to put it up until she leaves next time.

Scott, my wife carries the Ruger LCP 380 with the built in Crimson Trace laser sight. It is a little small for my hands, but is a great carry for the wife, no safety with a long trigger pull. Basically it is a point and shoot weapon. The laser is activated by a switch in the hand grip.

We are looking at a Remington RM380 and a Kahr 380. One of her co-workers has a LCP 380, and she's mentioned wanting to look at one of those as well. She's got some decisions to make here in the next little while.

An excellent choice. My wife and I both carried the same combo for a number of years and loved it. The newer LCP's have a greatly improved trigger, very nice compared to the older models. She now carries a S & W Mod 637 Airweight snub nose revolver in 38 Special, with Crimson Trace grips.
My next carry pistol will probably be either a Ruger LC9s Pro (no safety) or a Glock 43.

Finally decided what to get--laid it away, in fact. It's a Bersa .380...looks for the world like the 007 Bond PPK Walther .380!! Below is a pic of one, except I changed my mind the next day and went with a 2 tone. It was an additional $30, but it has an extra mag and a paddleback holster.

I also like the fact that it fires both single action and double action so she can leave it double action and not have to have the safety on while in her purse. It has an 8 lb trigger pull from DA, and it's quite long, so it will take a deliberate pull on the trigger to fire it the first time. After that very short reset to fire it empty. That's how I'm going to train her--fire it empty--if she has to pull the trigger once, she may as well pull it 8 times.

One of the perks of my job is that every 9 months I get a $130 boot voucher to a local boot store. They sell both work boots and cowboy boots. Of course I can only use the voucher toward boots on the 'work' side of the store. I was able to purchase a pair of $159 Timberland Pro boots after law enforcement discount and voucher for $14. Not bad, I thought.

As I was checking out, I noticed a sign that said all 'red dot' shoes are half off price marked. Went to the western boot side of the store and outfitted my 13 year old in her first pair of cowboy boots. My wife saw them and decided she wanted a pair. Took her and the other daughter and hooked them up.

Basically got 4 pair of nice boots for the whole family for at a little over $200. Everybody was happy. It was kinda like Christmas in January. :D

Do your work boots make good riding boots?

If you take the ladies out to practice kicking cow-pies in those new boots, make sure they are thawed out. Those frozen ones hurt. :qpnmt:

Yep. I've been know to use them for riding boots. And my ladies think they're too sophisticated to kick cow-pies. I'll show them different.

Scott, how much snow did you end up with? Things clearing up now?

About 14 inches. It's all gone except for the piles on parking lots. We got up close to 60 today. Honestly, I could've ridden to work. It was 47* when I drove here and only supposed to drop a couple of more degrees.

Maybe tomorrow night. We shall see.

BTW, I was off on the boot pricing. The whole family was fitted for $150, not $200.

Gone here too, but the ground is saturated. A friend lives a mile down a gravel road. When he finally got out, he bought some big honkin' tires for his 4X4. It's too muddy to get his Superglide out at all.

Mid 60's Sunday and upper 60's on Monday. We are taking the trike out for some errands. Wife wants a new cell phone and might do some mattress shopping.

I purchased a new pair of boots a couple of days ago. Georgia Boots Eagle Lights 8" tall and they are very light and comfy. I usually buy the cheap ones at Walmart, but they don't last long and so they get replaced after 6 months . I guess its like they say you get what you pay for.

Rain is going to hit us on Monday. If I do any riding it's going to have to be tomorrow. I'll probably bundle Raeden up and take her out for a spin. She's been making the sign for 'motorcycle' a lot in the last week.

Yep, you're right. We always purchase our footwear at a shoe store...well, except some shoes we get at JCPenney.

My riding boots are Georgia Boots. I've had them for several years. Now that I have the trike and don't even have to put my feet down, they will probably last several more.

Georgia boots make great boots. They were the last to offer a 30 comfort guarantee.

Bill,

We've been going back and forth with Money for Nothin' on the 3 word thread. Funny story about that song...

The wife and I were on a trike ride going out to eat one night. Of course I know every word to that song, as it was always a favorite. It came on the radio, and I sang along. This was the extended version that had the 'That little faggot' verse. In these days of political correctness it surprised me that the radio station played it. The wife had never heard it before.

I'm not real smart. I forgot to bring anything to eat. Brought PLENTY to drink, just no food. That's not good when you can't leave to get something. :xzqxz:

You know, I hardly ever use the radio in the trike. Didn't use much on the Roadglide either. Do you still have the stock exhaust on yours?

Nope. Upgrade to a stage one kit. Same pipe with different baffles in it. Not much louder than stock, unless I want it to be.

And I play the radio all the time. I used to think it was stupid when I pulled up next to a bike and heard music. Now I couldn't live without it. Raeden LOVES music...especially when riding the trike with me. She dances in the seat.

I'm just not satisfied with the sound. I'm kind of an audiophile. I used to have a side job running P.A. systems and still have a home studio in the spare bedroom. Not willing to put the $$$ into upgrading the audio on the trike. I'd rather put in a cam. :Trike1:

I think I might go with the all around stage I upgrade to the speakers later. Costs $400. From what I read on the reviews, all are saying the sound is like night and day. All this WITHOUT adding an amp.

Also just read that it's supposed to get up to 65+ today. Will definitely take the girls for rides today. Just gotta go home and get in bed early.
