Late nighters---unite!!!

Goood Morning, Just woke up time to go hunting, got about a hour drive to my spot. Hope all went well for you yesterday. I laid off the second helping so I don't feel to bad today.

Everything went really well. Had dinner at the in-laws, and both girls were extremely well behaved (for once). Raeden was a sweetheart. She was passing out hugs and kisses to everybody. She sat down beside me on the couch after dinner, and kept looking at me and saying 'Poppy', and making the sign for father at the same time. It was a good day.

Hope you have luck on your hunt today.

After reading my last post, I ought to explain something. If Raeden doesn't get paid attention to like she thinks she should, the person that she thinks SHOULD be paying attention will sometimes get grabbed by the hair of the head. And I mean at the roots. She pulled her poor Nanny (grandmother) all the way to the floor once doing that.

We have to keep a close eye on her at family gatherings. Two of our nieces have very long hair, and both have been in Raeden's grasp at one time or other, so they are very gun shy around her. Once their mom (wife's sister) jumped all over us when it happened saying we needed to keep a better eye on her. I told her no, her kids needed to steer clear when they saw her. Honestly, I understand them being afraid of her, but one is 16, and the other is 12. They are big enough to fend for themselves (just my opinion).

Basically their mom thinks that instead of enjoying family functions, one of us needs to keep a hand on Raeden at all times. I'm of the opinion that there are plenty of adults there (around 10) that we could ALL keep an eye on her and stop things short before they happen. Again just my opinion. The rest of the family sits around and has fun talking and what-not after the meal, but either me or my wife is supposed to be tied to Raeden while everybody else is having their fun. Yes, I know I'm ranting. It's time to stop.

:D

As I said on another thread, I rode to work tonight. It was a really nice ride too. The temp was 58*. Just a nice night. Looked at the radar a few minutes ago, and it looks like rain is gonna get me. Ah, well...I won't float away.

Looked outside after we did count, and yeah it was raining--albeit very lightly. The most remarkable thing we saw outside the window was a almost all white skunk! The only place black on it was under its chin and fronts of its legs.

Made it to work tonight, but I didn't trike in. Steady rain coming down, that looks as if it's going to keep coming down through tomorrow.

Riding days are dwindling.

Got home a little after 12:00 am, so much for the rush to buy stuff, no customers came in after 9:30 pm. The night really was dragging on.

Thank you for the welcome.
I work in retail sales for Big Lots and I am part of the holiday team.
Keeping people behind fences, you're a Corrections Officer? Not a fun job I knew a gentleman in Florida who worked at the county jail as a corrections officer.

I work in a fed joint. Kinda boring to tell you the truth. But boring is a GOOD thing. 20 years ago, I worked in a county jail, and it could be less than boring due to drunks coming in off the street. Most didn't understand that I wasn't the reason they were brought in. Yay. Glad to be away from all that.

The name is Scott, btw.

I'm north of Pittsburgh on Route 8

I've been to Pittsburgh once. Actually attended a Pirates game at the old Three Rivers Stadium. I have some friends that live in Canonsburg, if you are familiar with that area.

If you look back a few posts, you can see my daughter and I demonstrating the trike mid step we bought to help her (and me) get on and off the trike much easier. Let me tell you, it saves me a ton of lifting.

This is NOT a commercial.

Just to let you know, I'm on here after midnight 5 nights a week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays off), if you feel like chatting. Sometimes there are several of us on here. We may chat about just about anything--even ukuleles. :D

I'm a newbie to PA. I left Florida in 2013 for a job that only lasted 14 months and now I'm working in retail sales instead of motorcycle repair. I lived in Florida for 30 years I got tired of the bugs, humidity, hurricanes and tornadoes, and I really don't miss it. I have enjoyed seeing autumn and winter once again. I turn 60 on Dec 2 and I can honestly say this is the best I've felt in years. I have way too many bad memories in Florida from my mother's passing to the loss of my business and the worst stab was when the storage unit where the items from my business were stored and a number of units ransacked and stuff stolen they cleaned mine out of all my shop equipment. I was going to open a shop in Satellite Beach close to Patrick AFB, I had the location picked out and was not happy when I was informed that my unit was broken into and everything gone.
I'm usually up late and on the computer till 2:00am.
There's plenty of interesting stuff to talk about.

Wow...that's a lot of hard stuff to go through in a short proximity of time. And going from a bike tech to retail has got to be a big adjustment.

Me, I'm 48 going on 80, I feel like sometimes. :) Have wife and 2 kids. Girls are 11 and 13. The youngest is special needs, and she keeps me hopping in spite of that. Both daughters love to ride. Bridget (the oldest) misses 2 wheels because she loved it when I leaned into curves and turns. She said it felt like we were flying. I kind of miss it myself. But to get Raeden able to ride, I had to upgrade. My wife actually will ride with me now, as well. She never would ride on a 2 wheeler. She said she just didn't feel safe.

Saw on the pic thread that you sold your trike. You planning to buy another anytime soon?

You may or may not see this--I've got to count heads....will be back in about 15 minutes if you still feel like chatting.

In motorcycle service and retail sales I deal with customers and so it works out well. The objects have changed from oil changes to directing a customer to cooking oil . Big Lots sell a lot of stuff and I have a lot of fun helping the customers find what they are looking for and if it isn't on the sales floor I get it out of the stock room. I'm having a good time with this job because I like working with people and helping them get what they need. I may not be doing what I want but it's a pay check every week. Despite the set backs I hope to return to motorcycle repair and open a small shop.
My mom passed away before I got the Goldwing set up. I had two Harley Davidson Electra-glide Classics a 1984 and a 1988 both now belong to the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC. I had a 1999 Electra-glide Classic trike project that got repo'ed when I was going through a bankruptcy.
I have plans for another one and quite a novel one, a John Deere Sportster trike, painted in famous John Deere green. I found an interesting trike kit that will allow me to do the job and I certainly want to use the old style tractor seat. Money is needed to get the project going. Right now I have a Honda Silverwing Interstate a 1983 GL650I that I want to restore, it runs just needs a little TLC.
Trikes are fun and they're big and people see them.

Shoot--it's like people have blinders on, because they still don't see me. I had several people pull right out in front of me. The advantage I've got is the bike won't go out from under me if skidding to a stop. This is the only hesitation I have about taking Raeden with me. I try to ride on back streets or the open road when taking her for rides.

She loves listening to music while we are riding. When one of her faves comes on, she literally starts dancing behind me. I put a set of batwing mirrors on the bike, so I can use the handlebar mirrors (with extensions) to put on her, so I can see her any time I want to look.

Oh and believe it or not, I've seen a John Deere themed Ultra before. Not a trike though. That would be really cool.

They didn't mess with the Wing in traffic, they gave it room. It did have a hidden surprise from the previous owner, a set of air horns. I had fun with people in the Walmart parking lot in my former hometown of Port Richey, FL. I used to sneak up behind the senior citizens just walking all willy-nilly and not paying attention, blow the horn and act innocent as I went by. They'd scatter looking for the 18 wheeler :D.
From what I had been through in a matter of a year. I made some changes in my life and I was told if I did 3 things my life would get better. I changed 'People, Places and Things'. Life did get better and I wasn't hurting as bad, I prayed to God for help and things began to get better having been out of work for a little over a year this was my first decent job offer, I've made some good friends along the way. I participate in many forums as I like to chat with others, loneliness is not good for anyone. I lost my high school sweetheart to the Vietnam War we were the class of 1974 and he enlisted in the Marine Corp instead of being drafted, I think of him often.
I'll bet the John Deere Ultra was cool looking.

I participate in a few forums myself. This one has taken the lead by far. I used to be a daily participant in a ukulele forum (I still do sometimes), but there were too many a-holes, if you know what I mean. This place doesn't seem to have that problem.

Trikers are good people.

My father in law passed in September. That has been the biggest loss in my life thus far. He and I built our house together, and played music together. Hard to believe how stuff like that will bring you close. I have been closer to him than my own dad for several years. Thanksgiving was especially hard. The empty chair loomed large.

I really dread Christmas and New Year.

And yes, the John Deere bike was cool. If I can find the pic I have of it, I'll post it on this thread in the next day or so.

Good morning, folks. And Welcome Valerie.

My best friend's Mother lived in Butler, PA. I went to Leeper, PA to pick up his trike from his Sister after he died In June. Had it three months, now.

Scott, the UU forum used to be like this one, but I think since it has gotten so big, it is just out of hand. I joined in '09 before you and it was a nice community. I don't participate much any more, but do check it out-pertty much the same-old, same-old......

Pretty much. I raided the left-overs before bed and had trouble going back to sleep.

Are you teaching your girls to play?
I let Raeden strum while I hold it and fret the notes. Bridget's only interest is in a danged old guitar. Asked for one for Christmas. I told her I would be more than willing to let her learn to play on one of my ukes if she wanted. She replied, "Nah. I'd rather have a guitar."

That's why there are more than one kind of instrument.
It might be a cliche, but "setup is critical to learning". How many ukes do you have?
Four. All KoAloha. A soprano, a Pineapple Sunday, a custom tenor, and a spruce/macassar ebony Sceptre. The last belonged to my father in law, and he passed it down to me.
