Hi,

Any of you hot rods had experience with the Pingle or Kliktronic electric shifters ?

I hear Pingle is not as reliable ? My HD mechanic only knows the Pingle product

Any recommendations ?

Pingle ia $1k Kliktronic is $1700

New Trike on the way.

Hard to believe that my Pingel Electric Shifter has over 185,000 miles on it and untold “cycles” while shifting up and down. The mounting bracket is the original one and now has over 225,000 miles on it. Recently I noticed that the shifter was appearing to “bind” just a bit as it “pivoted” on the mounting bracket, so I decided to take it apart and see if I could clean it up a bit. As it turns out, it was a rather simple clean up and easy to do. I have attached a few photos that should help those who have a Pingel shifter that might be experiencing similar issues after many miles of riding in all conditions.

The plastic chrome cap is easy to remove and do not apply a great deal of pressure otherwise you will crack it (ask me how I know, LOL). Once you get it off, the rest is rather easy to follow along. I used WD 40 to clean it up and was sure to wipe the parts down so as to not leave a buildup. This did improve the “swing” or “pivot” of the shifter on the bracket. Give me a holler if you have any questions.

I have no experience with either; But If your Mechanic recommends the pingle, Then i would go with that, Then if theres a problem with it down the road it become his problem too and will fix it.. Use something else' And it might become just your problem:Shrug:

Disability modifications on triglide

I was told by a reliable source that all modifications made to your trike to accommodate a disability are tax deductible.

I was also told that the payments made for a trike to accommodate a disabled rider who can no longer ride a two wheeler are also tax deductible, as is upkeep ,insurance ,and taxes. As long as all of this is written on a medical prescription.

Anybody have knowledge in this space ?

I googled this topic and it would appear that you can write off stuff under certain conditions and depending which state you live in. I would DEFINITELY contact an accountant in your area as tax laws are seldom easy to interpret by the average Joe. Most of what I saw regarding vehicles were conversion vans and wheelchair lifts. Many of the conditions were pretty specific so again, someone who knows the tax law in your area would be your best bet. Hope this works out for you! wg

Spoke to IRS Agent. 1991 ADA legislation states disabled persons must be reasonably accommodated to allow for mobility constraints. Specialized controls or customization to allow for independent mobility. Cost of upgrades, purchase, and upkeep should be indicated on MD prescription become tax deductible. Options to accommodate other disabilities allowed. Must have original script and receipts for verification.

Agree on the doctor's letter. Told my doc I was going to get a hot tub for my shattered knee, he said, "That's hydrotherapy, tell me before you buy it and I'll write a 'therapeutic benefit' letter." Saved me about 700 bucks in sales tax, as "medical devices" aren't taxable. But the sales guy said, yeah, couldn't give that to you without the letter.
