Tank Lift on 2011 Trip Glide Ultra Classic

We bought a 1 1/2" (Deluxe) Tank Lift for the trike. Took it to a dealer to install. They called today and said it put the tank too high. Any thoughts?

Sorry.... That would be TRI Glide Ultra Classic.

Too high how? Or why? Is it rubbing or touching something. I have the same lift on my 10 and it fits fine. I installed it myself.

Do they understand that you hired them to DO A MODIFICATION?

A real mechanic would have done it and stood back to admire his work.

A few things that might happen there is the bars pulled back far enough to hit the tank, but that is changeable. The other thing you can slide the tank back a bit to get it away from the faring. Fuel line is plenty long.
I have a 2" deluxe version on my '12 without a problem. Kevin (DK) has a 1.5" but he also has taller bars.

The only reasons it would be "too high" is if-

The handlebars are pulled back so far that they hit the tank when turned left or right. This can be remedied by either sliding the tank back and/or by pushing the handlebars forward a little.

I currently have a 1.5" with the Deluxe Option on my 2014, but there is enough room to put a 2" with the stock bars. With my Customized bars there is enough room to run even a 2.5".

On my 2011 Tri-Glide I ran a 1.5 and a 2" with the stock bars and with my customized bars.

Here's a pic of my 2014 with a 1.5" with a Deluxe option with the stock bars and room to spare. It was a 30 minute install, max.

I installed the 2" lift with Deluxe option (1/2" in back) and had absolutely no problem. I still have the stock bars, and found that with this kit, you can move the tank forward and back by a surprisingly large amount. If you were not careful, you could easily have interference with the bars, but it is just as easy to move it back plenty to avoid contact. Great addition!

I like the look of this option and can see the cooling and cleaning advantage, Is this a Harley dealer option?
And I wonder if it would work on my 89 tourglide?
What were the parts cost?

Go to DK Customs. Kevin sells the kits in different heights.

I've put the DK 1 1/2 inch tank lifts on my 14 TG , a very easy mod to fit, I had rotated the handle bars towards me, and needed to rotate them back a touch so that they didn't touch the tank,

If you remove the plastic cover from around the ignition switch, you'll be able to get at the two screws clamping the bars down quite easily, rotate in position and retighten to the correct torque , very easy to do,

I just installed the 2" deluxe option on my 2011 TG without a hitch and it looks really cool and I'm sure motor is keeping cooler as we'll.
all kind of room to adjust also

For me, I like the look, I think the airflow/cooling will be better and it gives a little more room to work & clean the top of the engine.

:Agree:

Plus, while pushing more air over the engine, there is less air that comes over the top of the tank to hit the rider in the chest. For some, this reduces buffeting.

The seat actually fits better around tank and you can adjust back and forth to find you sweet spot for you and your rider.
its the cheapest mod to date I've done and it looks and feels great I'm short in stature and my legs kind fit under tank now gives me another position to ride in.
hope these pics help
lights made and designed in the USA by the way 19 colors and a ton more
