Rider back rest

I know I saw a post about installing a non adjustable rider back rest on a TriGlide. I put in "rider back rest" in the search box and a hundred posts came up with either Harley, back or rest in them. How do I narrow it down so only posts that are relevant come up????
The dealer says no non adjustable back rest will fit a 2014 TG. Does anyone know if there is one that will fit - Harley or others????

Don't really need one, but I have a lot of H-D chrome cash to spend and there's nothing else I need or want. :D

don't know about 2014, but all backrests will fit previous TG's.....hate when parts dept. tells you "it won't fit"!

Send me your chrome cash... I'll spend it for ya' (lol)!!!

Like Barbara said, the non-adjustable ones fit up to 2013 TriGlides, but also don't know about the 2014's. Last week I ordered a rain cover for just the front seat with a backrest and they said it won't fit the trikes (according to the catalog). Ordered one anyway because I know it'll fit. Every single thing that I've bought that the catalog says won't fit a trike, fit just fine.

I took the one off my 2011 Tri-Glide and installed it on my 2014 Tri-Glide. Zero issues.

btw, this is the same set-up that I had on my 2009 Ultra.

Nothing has changed except the parts book is wrong. :)

O but the parts book isn't wrong, the company just wants you to spend more money on something that you don't need!! That's called smart sales in my book. They know you don't need it and the old ones will fit.

what about the room on the back for the passenger when you add a back rest, I want one but was told there is not room for my wife if I install a back rest. oh wait a minute let me rethink that "not room for the wife"

I know that's not true. I know a bunch of couples that have back rests and ride together.
I have no need for an adjustable backrest. On long trips I lean back on my travel bag and it's not adjustable and I have no problem with that.

Kevin is yours the adjustable or non-adjustable backrest??? Catalog says the adjustable one will fit, but not the non-adjustable one. Doesn't make sense to me.....large one will fit, but small one won't????
I'd buy one, but I don't want to be stuck with it just in case it doesn't fit with the Zepplin seat.

I have the adjustable driver backrest on my '11. It does take up a little room, so when I ride with the wife, I take it out. I have a little bracket on the wall in the garage next to where I park the trike to hang the back rest if we are going together, or grab it when I am riding alone. When she is with me, I don't need it, 'cause I can lean on her. :D

if you moved the tour pak back about 1.5 inches could you use the back rest?

2014 - Utopia rider back rests are adjustable (up, down, forward, tilt, plus folds forward for ease of passenger on-off) and works on TriGlide 2014. (email Bob - utopia@utpr.com), I installed and its perfect. Want the best spend the bucks don't go cheap like EGlide Stuff. Plenty of room for the wife or any size passenger, no need to adjust trunk.

Mine is the non-adjustable backrest mount. My actual backrest has an adjustment screw that I can use to get it dialed in.

This is the part # in the HD catalog 52589-09A. It specifically states that it will fit 09--later Touring models (except Trike). This is the one I had on my '11 Tri-Glide and removed, and is now on my '14 Tril-Glide. Bolted right up, and it fits my stock seat. Catalog is wrong.

Here's a pic of the part-

This next pic, you can barely see part of it installed on the '14.

As far as having enough room, with about an hour of time, a drill and some bolts and nuts you can move your Tour Pak back to give the passenger some more room. Check out this thread....starting with post #30 it shows how in pictures and step by step.

I am a little confused about the posts concerning no room for a passenger if you have a backrest. ??? I have the HD adjustable BR on mine and it does not affect my BOB at all...Even if I put it all the way back... plenty of room for her back there. I am not sure where that old wives tale came from.

Trent, look how some of the ladies are built. My wife was happy with the stock location of the tour pac, but after I moved mine back 2" she loves it ! Not all ladies have the luxury of being skinney. Also that gave me room for the backrest without being cramped in the rear seat.
Also the movement of the tour pac made a difference in leg angle to the passenger foot boards.:Trike1:

Yeah, I didn't think of how someone might be built. I just assume everyone is thin and dainty like me! Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!! My BOB is not skinny { I am being really really careful here } and is perfect for me,,, but thankfully is not built like me either. I had the backrest before I moved the tourpac back a coupla inches, and it still worked fine for her. But you are correct,,,, She certainly liked it better after I moved it back. She really digs on the adjustable passenger foot pegs also. I sure find it more comfortable to have a backrest to lean back on.

You can also get the trunk relocation kit from Dennis at eglide stuff to raise the tour pac and move it back an inch or two. ThumbUp

I think Dennis makes extreamly great stuff and wouldn't call it cheap. Why did you say that?

I had his trunk lift kit and tour pac lift kit on my 2012 TG and just bought/received the trunk lift for my 2014. Great products.
