I pulled the XM radio off the trike today and started to install the J&M CB. I got everything up front mounted and now all I need to do is run the wiring to the rear and hook up power. I didn't move any wiring on the trike that I know of. The problem I'm having is the trike won't turn over now. I have the seat off. When I turn the key on the compressor runs and when I turn it to start, the headlight goes off, the voltmeter shows 12.1 volts and nothing happens. I have a charger on it now, but it should turn over with that many volts. Any ideas would be helpful. Thx

since you are a pretty new stallion owner I am going to ask you if you are aware that the bike wont start if the steering wheel is tilted either all the way up.. or is it down??? It's some kind of Hokey security thing they put on it. Apparently my dealer didn't think it was important and failed to mention it when I bought mine and it was a problem one weekend

Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. That was it. I tilted it up to get the panel off to mount the CB bracket. I thought I screwed something up. I have a lot to learn about this thing. Sure wish they had a service manual.

So do we all on the service manual. Very easy to forget about the tilt. We were not told about it either. Pick that info up here when first mentioned.

LOL... I am glad I could help. Yeah, I spent the better part of a weekend trying to figure out why mine wouldn't start and was one pissed off guy when I found out what the problem was.... even madder because no one told me about it when I bought it... should just be disabled... but I could only stand to own it for 2000 miles...

Actually it is NOT a hokey security system put on by TMS. It is the ignition switch needs to be removed and reinstalled properly. It usually means it was installed off by one cog.

You are saying that the steering tilt thing with it not starting is NOT for security? Rather it is because it wasn't installed right? LOL... if that's the case I was hoodwinked by my dealer... he said it was a security thing...

that is correct, the starter switch was installed wrong, don't remember if it is all the way up or all the way down that it won't start. but that is your problem...............................
yes your dealer LIED to you or was too LAZY to fix or correct the starter switch, it is not a SECURITY THING.
CALL TBMS AND ASK THEM, 888-783-3348

Must be in the lower position. I have mine all the way up and starts just fine.

I too was not aware of this issue. Thanks for letting us all know.

This site ROCKS!

what kind of top do you have on the trike ?

what kind of top do you have on the trike ?

It was on the trike when I purchased it. The old owner had it made where he lives SW of Seattle. He had it made because of all the rain up there and I like it because of all the sun down here.

I'm not, but I think he said it was somewhere between $900 & $1000.

I'm out of town now, but a couple of people PM'd me about it. When I get back, I'll take some pictures and try to post them.

There was a thread on this forum maybe 2 years ago about a top similar to that one. I think the guy that made them was in Kentucky. If you go back and dig, you may be able to find it. There was contact info and eveything.

I dialed the number for Miles, he listened to the automated voice tell him that he reached the voice mail box of 540-671-3374, he didn't bark at her......so no message was left

The gentleman is not making them any more, if you call him, he will send you pictures and give you imformation. Maybe you can have an upolstery shop in your area run with his idea and pictures.
All it took was a phone call and five minute conversation, I found the time and I'm not retired!
