SUPER BRACE on a Gold Wing 1800 Trike Report Thread

I installed the SuperBrace on my first 1800 and went with the Kury on the next two. Can't say that I found much difference between the two makes, but love the way they firm up the handling.

I've not ridden the trike without the fork brace so have no observations to make about that. I love the way my trike handles at any speed up to 110 mph - haven't gone any faster than that with three wheels.

I have a six degree rake on my trike. I installed it two years ago. Significant difference in handling and well worth the time and effort. I thought about the Superbrace. Then one day I ordered it. Big difference in "feel". The front end felt more "connected" to the road. It quit "twisting" over tar snakes and the pots holes were less of an impact on the handlebars.
Overall?
Glad I got it. And I would probably install one on any other machine that I owned.

Exactly.....Glad Lots of You are enjoying a SUPER BRACE....Yes, They do work.....ThumbUp

Installed the Super Brace on my 06 GL1800 with MotorTrike kit today. I have to say the installation was quite simple, except, I overtightened one of my lower pinch bolts and broke it. So had to drive 60 miles to the dealer, get a new bolt and remove the broken one from the bike. After that, finally got it all put back together, and took it out for a quick ride. My first impressions of it were how tight the front end felt. In twisties, it really felt rock solid, before it would feel like it was about to break loose any second. Defiantly worth the expense.

Great thread enjoying the read, I just purchased my first trike last Tuesday a 2000 GW1500 SE with a 2012 Motor trike conversion. I don't have a lot of riding experience as of yet mainly been a two wheel rider so am having to learn the in and outs of piloting a trike but so far love it. When I picked up the trike I had to ride about 200 miles to get back home and I found the trike to be very stable especially with a second person on it. Yesterday while returning home from work I was on the interstate and while passing some traffic I hit a speed of about 80 miles an hour at which point the trike began to wobble back and forth which seemed to worsen as I tried to hold the speed but would stop if I slowed down slightly when I sped back up it occurred once again. I had hit 80 mph when I had two persons on the trike and it seemed rock solid. Is this something that the Super Brace would help with? Thanks, this is a great forum. It has a 4.5 degree EZ steer added when triked.

This is good info to know, I just ordered a Roadsmith HTS conversion kit for my 2010 Goldwing, should be in to the dealers and finished late July. I already have a Superbrace on the bike and I'm going to ask the installer to leave it on. The Roadsmith has a 51/2 degree rake.

Yes, Definitely leave it on. "Personally", I think Trikes benefit even more than a 2-wheeler......ThumbUp

I have progressive springs on my '02 Wing ('05 Motor Trike kit). Motor Trike said two things that I am unsure about.
1) You do not need an EZ Steer triple tree. (I put one on after 12,000 on the kit and MT is wrong, it is great.)

you really don't "Need" one...
I have a 05 w 05 kit, and haven't had a rake.

so yo don't "need" one but you are right it will make turning easier. but you will give up on turning radius.

but anyway... you guys have sold me on a superbrace.... does it come in black

Yep, They have em' in BLACK now...I had one on my "Blacked Out" F-6B Gold Wing.....;)

OK, I bit and went ahead and purchased a super brace for my trike, put it on last Tuesday. My wife and I took the trike out on Wednesday and Thursday, the brace made a huge difference in the way the trike handled in the curves, it seemed more planted and less choppy, even my wife commented that she felt a difference in how the trike handled as we went through curves. I don't have years and years of ridding experience to draw on but I can tell when something added makes a difference in how my vehicle handles and the super brace definitely made a difference in the trike's handling, I would highly recommend it.ThumbUpThumbUp
