Army, 1969 - 1975. Son in Law is a survivor of Hamburger Hill (May 1969). He doesn't ride yet but I'm working on him some. He is VERY involved with the boys at Fort Campbell, Ky (101st) and goes down there at least two or three times a year. "Welcome home" is something that we almost NEVER hear with respect to our past military lives. My daughter and her husband only live five doors down from my wife and I. Oh, and yes, he is my daughters second husband and she got herself an older guy. She did good!

We are both veterans but neither one of us are retired (yet).

Four years in the Air Force...Chinese Language specialist I the USAF Security Service...Served off west coast of Korea in 1956 and 1957. Rank was E4. Returned to states for the rest of my term..

Holy Smokes, someone that can learn to speak Chinese, that's an accomplishment. They'd probably hire you quick in DC for big bucks.

USAF! ! 1959-1963. I'm an AF Brat with dad serving over 22 years.. I figured one fool in the family was enough so I got out to try civvy life. Was in communications with 18 months in Turkey then on to Air Craft Nav Radar in Shreveport, LA!! Can you believe, a SAC base during the Cuban Crises?I was really glad to get back to the good old state of MAINE!!!

Well, I did try to get into the foreign service in the early sixties and get even more training in Chinese, but by then we had 3 or 4 kids and the stipend that would be given while attending school would not cover our expenses so we just carried on with civilian life...retired from IBM in 1999....it worked out after all...did not use Chinese language after my military service..

Joined the US Air Force 1964 to see the world. Didn't get too far. Lackland AFB Texas, Tyndall AFB Panama City, Fla. Vietnam 66/67 Craig AFB Ala. Saw enough of the world so made my early retirement in 1968.
