Rosy, Understand what you are saying about gas availability. We will be riding around Kerrville (central Texas). If we ride the three sisters, we surely need to stop at every gas station. Hoping to see a lot of wildflowers. Jeannette cannot ride this far. Jonesy expressed an interest in going. He is anxious to ride his new trike and visit his long-time friend in Killeen. We will be at Kerrville in time for the Texas trike reunion, 4/24-4/26. Saw on news that Great Lakes ice is at 90% coverage, most since 1963. Experts say this will slow down spring in the north. Our plan is to head straight south to Florida and follow Gulf Coast. Cannot wait!

6 days to Daylight Savings Time and 16 days to spring... The end of winter is near. Our motorcycle trike is ready for Texas adventure next month. Hooray!

Easter is April 20th; blue bonnets will bloom around then, weekend before would be good timing. Do y'all have dates set yet to be in our area? Keep in mind there is usually an "Easter cold spell," so come with layers of jackets.

Blondie Gal, Would love to see the bluebonnets, but have concerns about this being such a cold winter. If bluebonnets are past peak and other wildflowers are blooming, that will be good too. At this time, we only have reservation at YO Ranch Hotel in Kerrville from 4/23-4/26 (3 nights). YO Ranch Hotel is only .3 miles from Super 8 where trikers are gathering. So we have a stake in the ground. We will work around those dates, as weather permits. Jonesy is concerned because Massachusetts is known to have bad weather in April. We will watch the weather reports to time our send off.

just let us know when you'll be in Killeen, and we'll meet up for a meal. Haven't been on the trike since last year, so will probably be on four wheels.

We traveled Route 20 then 95 up. The whole time we were on 20, we only had a misty day, which cleared by noon. The rest of the way, even North was great traveling.
I was planning on 10, but we decided to take 20 and glad we did. I would pick a couple places on 20 and 10 and watch the weather patterns, see if the Gulf plays any different along the coast than a little bit inland.
Jonesy is right about April around here. Sometimes it is a bear and other years it is a lamb. Maybe there is something to the frozen lake theory about the North staying cooler, but I would guess if anything, it would be lake effect snow or cold weather, which lots of times goes into the Vermont mountains rather than coming across into the Atlantic Ocean.
Leo, traveling across Texas is a wonder..BG is correct..Texas is SO BIG...you think you will never get to the other side.
One thing I would recommend is heated clothing, which is light and very warm. From your finger tips to your legs will be very warm. I haven't tried them, but you can even get socks to keep your toes nice and toasty. Good rain gears is a must, with rubber gloves and booties. There is nothing worse than being wet and cold and no where to warm up till you get to your room. Another is to keep hydrated with a water bottle always within reach while you are driving.
But, I am sure you have thought of all these things. Have a great time and keep us posted as the time gets near.

Rosy, Thinking I-10 may be a little warmer and has less chance of tornados. We definitely need to watch the weather reports. Hopefully, we can slip out of the Northeast while the weather is quiet. Weather should improve by the time we return. Don't have heated clothing, but I do have warm clothing and raingear, which is warm. Need to do something about rubber gloves and booties. Personally, I don't like driving in the rain or darkness. Prefer to check into a motel and find a nice restaurant. Will keep you posted.

Leo, you are correct. We drove 5 to 7 hours a day and no driving in the dark. We took our time getting home. Get in, plan our drive for the next day and book a room. That was our schedule coming home.
In Birmingham there was a trike and a Harley parked at the Hampton Inn, it was 39 F and windy that morning, hope he had some warm clothing for his ride.
No matter, it should be a fun adventure for you. Like I said, there were daffodils blossoming as we were driving home along 20. So, you know by April, it should be nice and green down South.

Good morning,
5 F when I woke this morning. Have the pellet stove cranking as we speak. Trying to save on oil heat.
Hope everybody has a nice day!

Rosy

Tell me about it Leo. Tried to shovel the truck out yesterday, but it was like ice. Truck didn't start anyway, sitting since December 8th, put charger on it, should start today. Still have to shovel some so I can get it out and then bring my snowblower in to clean up parking area. Then tackle the spot for the Mini, I am sure it will also need a charge.
Getting warmer here 21 F at 10:00 AM.

Rosy

Have to dress like an Eskimo, but not very heavy, you don't want to get over heated. So, dress lightly so you are a little cold, but as soon as you start working you will warm up.
Let you know later how it went!

Well, worked the ice, fell on ice, shoveled snow/ice, and I am not to happy with the results. Need to go out there tomorrow and work the ice/snow some more.
My sister-in-law was correct, when she said, Don't come home, to cold and way to much snow!
Should have stayed away.

Rosy & Janice

Evening all. Lurking in Appleton, WI. 4'F right now. Should get better temps next week. Will be near Birmingham, AL.

Mornin - sunshine and 40 later today - still have some snow in the long range forecast, but it's looking more like spring.

Hey Leo, does your trike fit in the trailer? The one beside the garage.
If it does, that would be another option when you go West. Trailer it to where it is warm and ride on!
Have a great day everybody!

Rosy
