Clutch switch is stuck, bad, or not engaging. Have you changed grips to an oversized set? If so, the clutch may not be depressing enough to make the contact. Listen closely when you squeeze the clutch. You'll hear a small "click" when you begin to pull it, and should hear another as the lever reaches the grip.

found 2 switches, shot wd-40 into both micro switches, didn't get 2 clicks at first. took total of 3 shots to clean them. one switch must be for the cruise other for start relay. both switches work now... thanks for the help

You got it. The first click (switch) kills the cruse and the second click (switch) lets you start the bike in gear. Glad you got it fixed, I know it is a pain to have put it in net. every time you want to start.
