The motor on my trike is a 1965 that is now a 1600 cc
I have no idea how many miles are on it, but I am sure it is a bunch.

We made it to Sturgis and back this year, 1600 miles round trip.
But I am starting to worry about it dying at the worse possible moment.

Since the motor is all original, (for the most part)
and getting almost 30 mpg when I have fuel without ethenol,
I worry about getting a different motor and loosing some of the good mileage.
And I dont have the money to buy a complete new remanifactured engine for
someone like Apex

Should I run it til it croaks or where would I find a decent used motor for a
reasonable price?

werewolf just make sure you check and adjust your valves and change and check your oil for any foreign objects every 3000 miles or so. Other than that if you haven't got one yet I would suggest getting How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive: A Manual of Step-by-Step Procedures for the Compleat Idiot Paperback (not saying you are an Idiot) lol.

ThumbUp,,,,,,,, check your compression and end play ,,if that's good run it,,,,,,,,ThumbUpThumbUp

What he said! :D Following that, stick to a sound maintenance routine, and as long as you're not getting blow-by or it's not smoking continuously and/or using/leaking a ton of oil, I'd run it til it dropped. I say this assuming it still has plenty of power and performs to your satisfaction. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ThumbUp
