Looking forward to seeing everyone at the rally!!!

Ride Safe and Enjoy!

Well the Rally is just TWO WEEKS away and we're very excited to be spending some fun times with old friends and new!

Id like to introduce Trike Talk Member and fellow rally attendee psweeden to you. Pat and his wife Patricia are from beautiful Holiday Island, Arkansas which is just 5 miles north of Eureka Springs. They're so lucky to live in trike heaven and ride their 2013 Harley Tri-Glide much more these days, since Pat has recently retired from his career at L'Oreal USA as of May 1, 2013. Congrats Pat! Pat is an amateur musician, writer and photographer and Patricia is an artist...fun and interesting folks for sure! The best part of our annual get-together is meeting fine folks like Pat and Patricia and 200+ others like them! The finest folks on trikes will be in Eureka Springs Arkansas at this Rally, June 16th-19th...Cant wait!

If you haven't made your reservation for the Trike Talk Rally yet you will be missing a GREAT time with some awesome people! The host hotel is
The Best Western Inn of the Ozarks 1-800-998-9620.

If you are coming, you will get to meet long time members Doug (retdpd) and Lila (the Queen) Polancih of Detroit Michigan. Doug and Lila have been married for 39 years and have raised four wonderful children. He is a life member of the Blue Knights MC and charter member of the Michigan One chapter and a BK member for 30 years, having served many positions including 3X President, 3X committee chairman and presently road captain for past 3 years.

This will be their third TOI Rally. Doug helped establish the fundamentals of Just A Trikers Group in Michigan which is 20+ strong as well as being very instrumental in forming our ride club, the TOI Group which currently has 1200+ members world wide. He is retired from The Detroit Police Dept and is an active member of the FOP lodge #188. Doug says he seems to have a reputation of getting lost. He calls it "extended adventures" LOL. He has received many awards for these adventures from the Blue Knights. He says his Blue Knight chapter is very efficient at making U-turns when he leads the ride which he most always does since is is afterall the "Road Captain". "We are the envy of Blue Knights International" says Doug and "Yes, we did get lost on the Parkway in Maggie Valley last year!!!" Doug will be leading a group of seven riders to Eureka Springs this year so lets pray they make it without getting lost!

Another great guy you'll be seeing a lot of at the Rally is Tom Goettl (trikeleader), who is our TOI Co-Founder and Director and a forum moderator. Tom is a past International Director of TRI, which was GWRRA's Trike Group. Tom and his new bride Lou Ann will be making the trip from the St Louis area where they reside. This is the third TOI rally for Tom and it will be the second TOI rally for Lou Ann. They were married just this past January 31, 2013 so they are still newlyweds and this will be a sort of second (and ongoing) honeymoon for them. Tom rides a newly aquired 2010 Stallion he spotted for sale right here on the forum classifieds and is really loving it and says he is excited to meet fellow Stallion owners at the rally.

Tom points out "I am the boss of the family......but Lou Ann makes the decisions. When we first got married I handed her my pants and said wear these...she put them on and said they're too large and she could not wear the pants...I told her that was right and she should remember that! Later that evening she handed me her panties and asked me to get in them...I could only pull them up to my knees... I said I can't get in these...she said that I never would unless I changed my attitude. SHE IS THE BOSS!! That's is my story and I'm sticking to it!" Sounds familiar....

Question: For those of us that will be camping during our rally, will Best Western (our rally host motel and HQ) allow us to use their facility for parking? It's my understanding that downtown parking is at a premium and very limited. Plus most of us would be rather apprehensive with parking our rigs in areas where the security is uncertain or questionable.

There will be no problem with ANY TrikeTalk.com members parking at the host hotel. There will be plenty of parking for everyone.

The rally grows closer and the excitement builds! Those of you who are coming will definately want to meet long time TrikeTalk.com member and attendee Charles Dever (Charlie D) and his sweet companion Marietta Richards (The IMP) from Willette, Illinois who are coming for their 5th Rally, having missed only the very first one. Their ride is a beautiful black cherry 2009 Stallion trike and will be one of many Stallions at the rally. Charlie is a Hwy Equipment Operator and Marietta is retired but enjoys teaching Country Western line dancing. Charlie is also a 30 year Harley Owners Group HOG member, one of the first 30 thousand and collects antique fire engines, the oldest being a 1931 Ahrens Fox Fire Pumper! He retired from the Fire Dept and is currently the MDA coordinator for Chicago Harley-Davidson. He also owned & operated a Snow Removal & Plowing Service for 40 years and is a US Army veteran. Charlie has always lived a VERY busy and interesting life! Be sure to say hello and get to know Charlie and Marietta!

I am so excited about getting to meet everyone!! My bag is packed and ready to ride. I tried to get Tommy and Dee Reynolds to leave this morning but he said no so did my sweetums. party poopers. See Y'all soon.

Glad you're excited about the get together Mitzi! Folks, I asked Mitzi for some info to share with her fellow attendees and here's what she said:

Hi my name is Mitzi Pedersen aka Texas RN and I am a Trike rider. Lets go back a few years to 1999 when I first meet Tommy and Dee Reynolds. He was on a Electra Glide he had triked it was green and black. I would look at it and drool at the beauty of it. Now I had been packing behind my husband for 25 years and had been working on him for 5 years to let me ride my own bike. He finally gave in but first I had to take the riders safety course. He then bought me my first bike....a Yamaha 200 Trail Ways. Boy did I tear up the pasture up with that for about 6 months before he deemed me safe to ride the roads. LOL

He then took me to the Harley shop to pick my first new bike with much guidance from a very nervous husband I was the proud owner of a Buell Blast. He rode it home for me. We were in Dallas and he didn't want the fast cars to run over me. My love is always looking out for me. The Blast and I road many back roads for over a year but all I could think of was a trike. So I talked Jerry out of his new pearl white Fatboy and we trike'd it. Three months after getting it while riding it to work I was rear ended at a stop sign by a new driver. Had I been on 2 wheels I would have been pushed into oncoming traffic and killed. Damage to trike, rear end caved in, handle bars bent. To me.. a broken tailbone. For the next 4 years I rode every time I could, 40K miles, loved every moment of it. So while sitting at a red light Yup rear ended again by a woman talking on her cell phone. She blamed me for just sitting there. Damage this time totaled the trike broke every piece of metal in the trike again bars are bent. Damage to me.. the kinetic energy ran down the right side of my body and I have pain to this day. Jerry was ready for me to stop riding but I talked him is to letting me get back on the horse so to speak. I ordered a Road King color suede blue had to name him Elvis put 45K on him. Last year my sweet Jerry said you need a new trike. ME: Say what I love my Elvis no. HE:Well lets just look and see what's out there. ME: NO!! HE: We'll see. 3 months later I'm now on a 2012 red Harley Triglide I named Azarais.

Jerry and I have been married 39 years and have gone on many trips on the bikes. I have just under 100,00 miles in the front seat. We have 3 kids 10 grandkids and 1 dog. We live in the country on 180 acres. I have always done hand work but have just discovered quilting. My fav hobby Riding my trike.

Mitzi is just one of over 200 fine folks you will be meeting at the TrikeTalk.com annual Rally in Eureaka Springs Arkansas! Get your butts over to the Rally!

Another super fine and really fun couple you're going to really enjoy getting to know at the Rally will be our good friends Keith & Vicki Putnam (kwputt) from Frankfort, Ohio. Keith and Vicki live on a 320 acre farm that Keith's great grandfather bought way back in the late 1800's. With the help of their kids and grandkids they custom feed about 4000 head of pigs each year....Now thats a LOT of bacon! Keith also works 40 hrs a week as a county building inspector and an after hours residential grant inspections for disabled vets. Keith is an aviation buff and private pilot and owns and flies a sweet little 1959 Aeronca Champ taildragger right from the family farm. He is a Mason and both he and Vicki are 4H advisors and 26 year EMT volunteers. They have been married for 45 years next month and plan on slowing down and turning more over to the kids so they can enjoy riding their 2012 GL1800 with the CSC Viper kit. This is their third TT Rally. Be sure to say hello to Keith and Vickie, you'll be glad you did!

Its not to late to plan on attending the 2013 Rally and put a handshake on the great members you know here on the forum. One of those "must meet" couples is our resident lead moderator and ride organizer David Panter (skuuter)and his wife Mitzie who hail from beautiful Estill Springs, Tn.

David is the most dedicated rider/enthusiast you will EVER meet bar non and has owned or WILL OWN virtually every motorcycle and/or trike known to man! (Yes I'm jealous!!!) He has 44+ Years of Motorcycle/Scooter/Trike Riding, 19 years of Race Car Driving (1974 NASCAR LMS Rookie of the Year driving race cars he completely built himself, 8.5 years of Kart Racing (2 State Titles) 3 years of Motorcycle Racing, 14 years of R/C Racing (2 National Titles, 11 Regional Titles, 23 State Titles) has built Custom Motorcycles for 12 years, owned a Bicycle Shop for 9 years...all of this while helping run the family business: Panters Auto Parts, and raising 3 Kids. Yes you might say David has "wheel fever"!

David says its been a Really Fun Life, and never dull and he's really enjoyed being on the STAFF of Trike Talk.com (to the point of pretty much being the only Forum moderating I do anymore), and leading the regulary scheduled TENNESSEE TOI CHAPTER RIDES. David and Mitzie have attended the 2010, 2011, and 2012 Rallies, and will be at their 4th in 2013...He LOVES TO RIDE, DAILY and LOTS OF MILES...!!!!! and by ride...he means rain, sleet, snow...WHATEVER! David is a true RIDER!

David and Mitzie are super fun and friendly folks who you'll surely want to hang out with! Be sure and introduce yourself to David (he really goes by skuuter) and Mitzie at the rally!

We got so excited about the rally plans that we are now leaving a day earlier so we can have all 3 days to visit. See you all Sunday night. pepper

Alan, I'm happy to see you and Patty are coming early to spend more time getting to know everyone! Cant wait to meet y'all!

There are hundreds of fine people attending our "family reunion" this year so I regret I cannot introduce all of them to you here before the rally, but I will continue to add a few more as the Rally grows closer. One of those attending this year will be my good buddy Jerry Applebee (Gold Rush) from San Angelo, TX.

Born and raised in Ladysmith, Wisconsin on a small family farm and after a year plus in college Jerry decided to join the US Air Force in 1967. His primary career field was aircraft avionics repair from which he retired in 1991 after 24 years. He served at many stateside bases, spent one tour in Viet Nam, and other overseas assignments to Egypt, Spain, and Germany.

Jerry married his bride Ruby in 1987. Jerry says "How she has put up with me all these years is a mystery. Unfortunately she is not able to ride with me anymore but encourages me to continue because she knows how much I truly enjoy riding. I enjoy wrenching nearly as much as riding. I have worked on every one of my own rides since my first one in 1967 and many of my friends bikes. In spite of working full 40+ hour work weeks until two years ago I still have managed close to 20,000 motorcycle miles each of the last many years."

In 2006 Jerry rode in each of the 256 Texas Counties! It took him nearly all year riding on weekends, when he could, and a couple of long trips but by late November he had completed the goal. Jerry says "I forget the mileage but it was somewhere just shy of 18K just for the county rides."

Jerry rides a 2006 GL1800 with a 2011 MotorTrike Adventure conversion and also presently owns a 2006 Yamaha Stratoliner. Jerry is as friendly, knowledgeable and helpful guy as you will ever meet so be sure to make a point of seeking him out to introduce yourself!

I will have my GPS also with me in morning when I hit the road. Girl Prattling Sh!t. Just don't tell the wife I said that or I will be sleeping on the trike (done that, been there).

Fred, are you riding out or trailering? When are you leaving? Rich

The trailer won out, it's loaded and ready to roll! I'll be heading out Thursday morning early, hit a meeting at the office in McDonough, Ga., after lunch. Go for ride with office folks, dinner and motel. Friday head up to hook up with Jerry, in Lynchburg, Tn..:Trike1:

Now here's another good friend y'all need to meet. Fred Lapp aka BIG Dog is bringing one of the most blinged out new Stallion trikes you'll ever see! This is Stallion number 2 for Fred as his 1st one was totaled out when a car hit him broadside. Fred never got a scratch thank goodness! Seeing a pattern here? Trikes ARE safer than bikes! Anyhow, Fred is a long haul trucker who resides in Sarasota Florida and travels mainly the east coast corridor on his custom flatbed rig. Like the Stallion, his truck and trailer rig is tricked out to the max and has the biggest sleeper (condo) you will ever see. Fred is not one to do anything half-cocked, when he does it he's all out. Be sure to say hello to Big Dog when you get to Eureka Springs!

If you weren't planning on coming, but have changed your mind its not too late as there are a few rooms left at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks. 1-800-998-9620. CALL NOW and be sure and tell them you are with TrikeTalk.com Rally for a discount. There are a FEW dinner party/meet-n-greet tickets left too, message Marge or me to reserve one!
