Just lookin for some feedback on mileage you people are getting on your 103 HD motors. I want to know if I am "normal" hee hee! I am getting 25-27 miles per gallon running at 3000 rpm on average. Payload is me (300 delicate lbs of fun) and about 30-40 pounds of trunk contents.

2011 Tri Glide overall fuel average is 33.9 mpg (mileage recorded since bike was purchased) running at 2500 to 3000 rpm. Almost 10k on the bike. Ride mostly 2up on the trike so payload is about 350 lbs. or more. On the super slab running at 70 mph fuel mileage suffers.

%90 of my riding is 2 up and fully loaded. If I am using 2 lane highway and running 60ish in 5th gear I can get 35 to 36 mpg. On the super slab 2 up and loaded running 75+ in 6th gear I generally get 30 to 31 mpg. It also varies on the octane I am able to buy.

When I had mine I could get 35 - 36 mpg running along in the 60 mph range while in 5th gear. Riding 2 up while pulling my Aluma MCT I could get 30 mpg running at 60 mph in 5th and 21 - 23 mpg while running 75+ mph on the freeway.

11T/G
Running solo [no one will ride with me] at 60ish on a regular 175 mile ride i do at least 3 times a month. 38/39 mpg, That's with true duels and stock with a modified left muffler and a Stage 1 up grade. 93 Octane

Just got the trike back Friday from the shop. Put new jugs on . Went on a 712mi. trip in Ill. doing 70mph 80% of the way. Averaged 37-38mpg. Before I would get 27-32 doing 75mph. I don't know what they did different this time but it worked. I was in 5th gear all the time going 70 & once 75 in 5th. I was at 3500rpm. That is how I broke it in. It's in the shop again getting a free oil change. Happy so far. Jim P.S. Forgot to add that I was loaded down & 2 up.

I seem to be toward the low end of all those numbers on my '10 TG. Of course, I am never easy on the throttle. If I punch it hard enough, the momentum throws my wifes hand back before she can smack me for going to fast. I seem to be around 30 MPG if I mostly behave myself. At 80 MPH for 100 miles in 22'F weather I got 22 MPG. I won't even talk about what wind does to the mileage.

Be careful, don't break it.:D

90% of the time is 2up, I am 265 lbs of hot buttered love, BOB { Babe On Back } I would not guess weight, { I am a little slow, but not that slow } but way way less than me. Many many modifications of course,, Does not matter if I drive it nice or like an Oruangatang, I get 32. Only time I get less if if there is a very strong headwind and on the freeway. 2500 to 3500 rpm and up to 85 on a regular basis. Up and down a lotta steep mountain passes and freeways. I use only Chevron gas, 91 octane. Cant get corn free 91 around here anymore.

Average 32 to 34 riding 2 up with all her junk, I mean our stuff:laugh:. Usually keep it around 70 on the interstate otherwise the millage drops into the upper twenties.

I did a ride from Jamestown, ND to Nampa, ID with the mileage running from 28 to 35 between fillups. The trike was loaded in the trunk, tour pak, a bag on the tour pak luggage rack and the wife and I. Worst mileage was in western ND and eastern MT where I was running around 78 mph and the temps were in the mid to upper 90's. Best mileage was from Bozeman, MT down thru Norris and Ennis, MT to Rexburg, ID running mostly around 65. Also had about the same mileage from Rexburg to Arco, ID and Arco to Mountain Home, ID. I have noticed on several trips out here and also in the Black Hills is when at higher altitutes I get better mileage. Other riders I know on both 2 wheels and 3 wheels say the same thing.

2011 Merlot and Black TG, LED headlight and tailights, lift kit, deflectors, LRS flattop recurve 9 in windshield, stage 1, PCV and CVO slipons and of course some bling.

How much wind and wind direction makes a big difference. Riding around with the group say around 60 mph, 34.5. Fully loaded riding 2 up pulling my Bustec Trailer, 70 mph, fighting a head wind riding to Rapid City, 19.5, go figure, Ride Safe!

Got back from a 10 day trip to SD and Black Hills about two weeks ago, 2200 miles. Overall average about 33.5, low as 29.8 high speed fully loaded 2- up against the wind, and high as 38.6 two up riding around for the day.

Keeping it around 61-64 gets me the best mileage, either solo or two up.

Big headwinds and high speed (72-76) give me the worst.

Wow, I sure wish I could get above 34mpg, I can't even get 30-31mpg most tanks. Now, I ride mostly 2 lane, have to shift alot. The tg seems to lay down on any hill, of course it runs way too hot, could be most of the problem, no mods...yet. And I ride solo, maybe 15-30lbs of girl stuff, ya know, purse, cooler with frozen drinks, rain gear, extra bandanas, ball caps and Glock...

If I can get fuel with OUT ethanol I get around 40 mpg running around 2300-2500 in 6th gear. Ad ethanol it will drop to 37 mpg, go on interstate at 70 mph without ethanol it will drop to 36, ad ethanol it goes to 33. In Wisconsin most all gas stations have premium with out ethanol. Therefore I even run premium in my boat and lawn equipment so I do have ethanol in that equipment. In Florida unfortunately there are no stations that do NOT have ethanol so I am forced to use marine Stabol in each tank for the Harley and the golf cart.

It is my understanding now the damn government has approved the stations to go to 15% ethanol, now that should help out gas mileage a lot :(:( Guess I will have to go to the airport.

Don't forget ammo! :)

Fuel use all depends on Air /fuel ratio. exhaust restricted or open. Air filter restricted or unrestricted.
Headwind. uphill, downhill. Speed. Gearing.
With the design of the 2 cyl is not the best design for mileage.

i've been getting about 30 mpg consistently since I bought the trike, only have about 4K miles on it so far. just me and not fully loaded. most of the 4K has been in 100+ temps range in TX. only mods are true dual pipes. I use 91-93 octane and try to stick to big name gas stations, but sometimes in the middle of no where you have to take what you can get!
