I guess this is one of those simple things , but I have read several threads with discussions and comments about getting footboard extenders or spacers to get your legs away from the cat and help with the heat issue.

I have found some at HarleyGoodies.com.

Is this what folks are using or are there other vendors/products?

Thanks.

Saw this post and immediately ordered full complement of extensions and new mounting brackets. Just finished trike, with new true dual pipes. Pam burned her leg twice in one week (shorts on) and I had to do something. We've both donated rubber to the pipe gods and I'm tired of giving. Now, to find all new floorboards...so many decisions.

I installed the Pingel floorboard extenders on mine and they are working great.

SooS over on HDforums makes the floorboard extender's. Lot of guy's over there are well satisfied with his product. I bought the spacer's and Grade 8 bolt's at the hardware store and made mine. The extender's are good whether the heat's bothering you or not. Let's you use more of the Boards and makes cleaning the lower part of the header easier. I don't get as many boot marks on my pipes now.

I got some from Harleygoodies and put them on and I just love them. It helps some with gettting your legs away from the heat and also make for a more comfortable ride.

Well, Marv1, things are not as simple as one thinks.

HarleyGoodies.com has the one inch extenders but don't list 2012 FLH or TG as one of the fitments so I am doing more research. Their site is pretty well self explanatory.

The Pengel extenders are 1-1/4 inch extenders and cost quite a bit more.

The other question I thought of is whether the parking brake can still be used with the extenders if the passenger footboard is in the upright position. Haven't had a chance to do any measuring yet.

Thanks to all for the comments and suggestions. Every time I ride when I look at my feet, they are half off the floorboards, thus the reason for my original question plus I hear tell it helps the heat issue.

The driver board extenders should fit the 2012, HD hasn't made any changes for the 2012 MY that would impact the fit. Now the passenger extenders won't fit, HD changed the passenger board mount for the 2010 and later Triglides to include another bolt, you can however install a set of 2009 passenger board mounts with no problems.

Just call Harleygoodies and he will tell you what they will fit, that's what I did. They fit my 2012 triglide with no problems. I only put the driver floorboard extenders on my trike.

I installed the board extensions on my 08 Ultra, then moved them to the 09 trike when I inhereted from my wife. Also put Kury (can't spell it) longer shifter and break pedal. Moves your leg forward and out from the exhaust pipe. Wife liked it so much did the same to her '11. Originally did it for comfort. Don't know about passengers, don't ride 2 up
good luck

Yeah, forgot to mention I did the Kuryakyn shifter extenders on the left...Just worried how the 3/4" is going to mess with my footing. Kinda like where they are NOW, but if I move them out 3/4" or 1", how people feel about getting to the brake pedal, and I guess also the shifters...

I have 4" spacers and 2 inch forward floorboard mounts. Being a tall, big A/K left leg guy back in 2008 I contacted SOOS on HD Forums about making me a 4" spacer for the left floorboard. Reason I wanted the 4" spacer was to allow me to place my prosthetic foot flatter on the floorboard.

So if you want to go wider it can be done.

I have said it before and will say it again. Just remove the parking brake, then it wont be in the way of anything. Ya dont need it. Gets in the way and is more crap to adjust.

Well I tried to order the Soos Driver extenders SK5 for my 2013 TG and he immediately refunded my payment, saying they were no longer being made...maybe I will try the ones from HarleyGoodies....

I know this is an old thread, but I've had SOOS extensions on both my 2010 and my 2012 Triglides. You need to order SK-6 and SK-10. As far as I know, SOOS is the only extension that will fit a 2010 and up Triglide passenger footboards. To be honest, I don't think the 3/4" are worth the trouble compared to the 1" extension. JMHO.
