You Might Want To Check Your E-Brake...

Hi All...
I ride a '13 TG and after a short ride last week I discovered that my e-brake handle was hanging down and almost touching the pavement!! When I pulled back the boot I found that the pin connecting the handle to the cable linkage had backed out! It is normally secured with a spring tooth washer (I'm sure there is a more technical term...) and a flat washer and they were both gone. I did find both of them in the boot when I removed it to make repairs. Unfortunately the spring washer had lost its "spring" and would no longer stay in place in the groove on the end of the pin. Tried to fit a "C" clip but the size required was too thick for the groove. Ended up using a bolt and nyloc nut along with the original washer to make the repairs. Pictures should make it a bit clearer...

Original Pin location

Flat washer and spring lock washer

Replacement bolt and nyloc nut

Seems to me that the original method of securing this pin is rather poor as all of the other linkage parts use either a nyloc nut and bolt or a pin with a cotter pin.... Oh well, another minor crisis averted...

Ride safe and ride far...
