Would you do it again

Absolutely! If I had to do it over, I would probably use same installer and same kit. About 6,500 miles so far, no issues. :) If I ever do have a problem, he's 18 miles away.

In the same situation -- YOU BET!!!! I had a choice.... Three wheels or none. Not much time spent making that decision. Trikes have advantages over two wheels but they also have drawbacks. Each of us must choose. You'll know when/if it is time to do three wheels.

I've had my bad right hip replaced and both knees worked on since I triked my '06. If I could get what it's worth I'd sell and go back to a conventional GL1800. I know eventually I would need to convert again sometime down the road.

When the time comes, do a lot of research regarding kit and installer. Both are equally important.

I would do it again, because it's allowed me to ride again. I'd do it the same way, too, I'm very happy with my results.

Just what I was wanting to hear !! I'm leaning toward Mt adventure or hannigan.
Which one would you all recommed?? They are about the same price.

I'd definitely have my bike triked again. It would be another Roadsmith unit or a Hannigan! ThumbUp

I didn't trike mine, I traded my Ultra for my Trike. I have 40,000 miles in 2 years on the trike. We would trade the bike for the trike in a heart beat. Wife really enjoys the trike a lot more. She says she feels safer.

Now after hitting the deer, trike is the only way!!

I'd be all over it again without even having to think about it and I've only gotten about 80 miles on mine since it has been triked. I'm getting ready to go back out and dodge the rain drops.

Yup, it makes life a lot easier for an old man with a bad hip and riding two up. I've got a Roadsmith and love it would definitely go Roadsmith again. Top quality all the way and great folks to work with at The Trike Shop. I do miss the leaning sometimes and that's why I still ride a two wheeler a lot when solo!

Tough call. Everybody thinks "their's" is the best. My friend has a Hannigan and loves it, I have a MT Phoenix and have had zero problems. Another friend has a DFT and thinks it's the best, etc, etc. The most important thing is finding a good, neat, competent installer who cares about what they're doing. That's the key...

In my case I found an installer 18 miles (25 - 30 minutes) away who deals with MT. Tough to beat that. Whatever you choose, once it's properly installed, you'll love it. ThumbUp

Well I didn't trike my 2wheeler,as it would have cost 15,500. I traded m Victory Vision for a 03 gl1800 with Roadsmith kit already done . I should have bought a trike to begin with ,but you know how some of us stubborn old men can be :gah: right?:10: If something would happen to the trike, yes I'd replace it with another Roadsmith trike.

I just had my "97 wing triked in July of "13 with a Roadsmith and haven't been able to stay off of it. This is the least miles per weekend I've put on it since I got it and I put on 160 miles today. I'm 54 yrs. old and in good health and work full time. I got it done because my wife and I like to ride together and it is so much safer and relaxing. 100 miles on a 2 wheeler used to wear me out but now 200 seems like a normal day. I'd do it again in a minute.

Yes Sir. I'm presently on vacation in Gulf Shores and really miss not riding mine for a week. I've only put 400 miles on my Harley Ultra this year because I can't stay off that Trike.

I would do it again in a minute. MY only regret is I could not do it sooner.I put 40,000 on the first one 1500/Motortrike and have put about 14,000 on the second 1800/Roadsmith.Thank goodness I did not have any problems(health, surgeries, anything like that)I just like them.GOOD LUCK RIDE SAFE

I'm on the fence. When I'm riding 2 up the answer is "Yes, I'd do it again" When I'm alone then the answer would be "no".........unless while I'm riding and come to a gravel parking lot or have to make a "U" turn in a very tight space. So, the majority of the time the answer is yes, I'm glad I triked it.
Another plus for triking is how long the rear tires wear compared to a single tire on a GL1800. I know you'd have to replace 2 tires, but the 2 would wear longer than twice the single tire on the bike.
I have to admit the acceleration isn't quite as much on the trike and the brakes are not nearly as good.

Oh yes, for sure, no question. It has kept me and my co-pilot riding, so we're lovin the Road Smith. Have a good friend with a Hannigan, he's liking the ride. He may chime in here.

Yes, I would. BUT, I wouldn't have the same installer do it.
After 3 years, I'm still finding problems. And it's out of my pocket, not his.
He is in Aitkin, Mn. Just to let you all know.
Ride safe
I would certainly do it again as I'm wishing I'd have done it sooner. I ride my trike to work and on weekends, year round. Got caught in snow @ work before I had my '08 Wing triked. Not a pleasant experience even for a seasoned bike rider.

I've ridden in tempuretures from a sub freezing cold of 0 degress to sweltering 104 degrees. The key is to have gear to compliment your riding needs.

Let it be said "rain or shine, sleet or snow, me and my trike are on the go!"

I've found my trike actually handles good on snow covered highways as the diferential from CSC is a limited slip set-up. Extreme caution and common sense must rule the day, however, when riding in any inclement weather.

I've got 50K on my conversion now and plan to run this trike to over 300K, if it holds up. I've replaced not a single part, outside of standard maintenance items, on the CSC kit, or the Honda part of the trike, to date, and have logged 120K miles as of this writing.

I have owned my old 1989 tour glide ultra for 24 years and 91,000 miles, last spring i converted it myself with a hog halter raked front end and a champion straight axle kit.

It was like getting a whole new motorcycle.

I have truly enjoyed it more in the last summer than i have since it was new and i wore a younger mans hair length.

I was still able to ride a two wheeler, but wanted to trike it while i could still do it myself.
I enjoyed converting it so much i would love to do one for someone else to give them the same sense of enjoyment.

Google- (pcombe library/photobucket) and check out the conversion process
The key to a trike that you will happy with lays allot on the shoulders of the installer.
If the guy cuts corners you will pay for it!
The first installer that comes along is not necessarily the right choice!
i did not have a choice as it was trike it or sit there and just look at it. there are so many builders out there now that make great looking rides my biggest problem would be who to use. i am a little partial to my Champion with solid axle but would look hard at the CSC and Hannigan's.

Don't any of you guys ever think on building your own trike? All I read here is about who builds the best trike you can buy, or who makes the best kits. Do it yourself, it's a lot more fun and you know what you are riding. My youngest son and I built my trike in the back yard using anything we could beg borrow or...er....borrow. Took us a summer and cost a lot less than most of you paid for your rear end conversion or rake kit. AND it was a hell of a lot of fun to do!
