wobble in back

I have a 2005 goldwing with a motortrike kit Ibought it used about a year ago. lately I have been getting a wobble in the back end more pronounced when riding by my self. not there all the time some times you can accell or decell and it will go away. put on a kurklan gen.2 ft fork brace might of helped a little. any body ran into this before?

I suspect you will find this is some "waffling" in the tires. This is most common to very high performance tires constructed of softer compounds to provide "stickiness" (or grip) in high speed cornering. These tires are easily identified by the wear rating imprinted on the tire.

Extreme high performance tires will have a rating in the 200-300 range. They are pretty with impressive tread patterns, but designed for sports car handling with normal air pressures. On a trike however, the combination of low air pressure (assuming you are running at a nominal 24-28 lbs) and the very soft compounds make them prone to "waffling" at 10,000 to 12,000 miles (sometime less).

On my vehicles I look for wear rating of 700-800, but on the trike I've found that a 500 wear rating gives a smooth ride with great grip and performance while providing good wear at the lower pressures.

I'm sure others will offer other opinions and tires are largely a personal preferance.

Good luck with identifying your problem and solving it.

If there is a torsion bar running from lower right side, to upper left side, across the rear, check to see if the fitting coming out of the upper end of bar is stripped inside bad. If so, replace torsion bar . Larry

Sounds like a possible tire problem, maybe even loose lug nuts, BUT might be more...The MT kits have Heim joints on either end of the bar that wingnut mentioned. Check both ends...also be sure and check the six Heim joints, both front (one) and rear (two) on the right and left ladder bars. The Heim joints have been known to strip out on the ladder bars (see pic below)...that actually sounds the more likely problem than the torsion bar (which is actually an adjustable centering bar). There is a lot of torque placed on the front Heim Joints and sometimes the threads strip letting the rear end shift.
