Will not move

Hi everyone. My friends wife is selling departed husbands Trike. HD2010 6spd fitted with a manual change Champion reverse gear setup. Help needed the after a so called mechanic went for a ride.Came back put it or tried with out reading instructions in to reverse. I was not there at the time. I got a call and told the trike will not move when engine running. Not fwd/revs. Any info would be good.

Obviously it was in gear and reverse at the same time , with trans damage . I gues the reverse safety was disconnected or failed , or never existed . Repair shop time .

Steve.......Welcome To Trike-Talk......:wave4::wave4:...

Just a guess here, But when the mechanic put/slammed it in reverse it was still in first gear and the gear were sheared off the transmissions main shaft .....

Bob I agree on the sheared shaft, but if that was all then it would still go forward like without no reverse installed. The gears are part of the reverse install. I suspect that internal damage to the transmission also happened, like a Shaft broke besides. I bet a complete trans rebuild is going to necessary or at least a trans swap out.

Maybe a used trans is the least expensive answer. Will not know till the trans is pulled.

I know one thing for sure if there “Isn’t” a cut off on the reverse so you can’t put it in forward while in reverse’.. It’s not that ‘If’ you will damage the transmission’ Ratter “Its’’ when you will damage the transmission…

1 good thing is the gear sets and gasket/ seal kits should be available from multiple sources
