Why didn't I think of this?

At Daytona I ran across a booth selling electrical parts. He had things like real bright head lites, LED lites, and loud air horns. What really caught my attention was his way of fattening up the bike's fuel/air ratio. He installs a small resistor (and brain box) in series with the 02 sensors so the ECM sees a slightly lower voltage signal.

Our Triglide now has better throttle response, pulls smoothly from lower RPMs and it took away the lean surge at small throttle openings. Getting rid of that surge was the biggie for me.

It's a little pricey at $169 but it does what the guy said it would do. ($139 if you install it yourself.) The seller can be reached at: NIGHTRIDER XiED or at fastO26@tx.rr.com if you're interested. I'm happy with it.

Xied's have been around for a long time PC.

It works by fooling the ECM to think you are receiving a preset AFR/Lambda signal. The preset can be adjusted on some of their models or you can purchase a set of Xied's that are set to 13.2 or 14.1 and so on. They come in many flavors and model year dependencies. They only work when the calibration is in Closed Loop and the ECM is looking for the signal.

Issue is... your bike may run a bit more rich and SUCK gas when the bike really needed a leaner mixture at the Closed Loop setting. Many times when tuning and flashing the ECM I've found this to be the case. We say the factory calibration is lean... It is in some places but I've found it to be inefficient more than lean. Adding the Xied's just makes it more inefficient.

Will the Xied's cool the bike? Yes it will because it the Closed Loop your AFR's are looking for 14.7 as a norm. You take it down to 14.1 or 13.2 you are tossing in more gas. This is the part where you get 25 MPG. This doesn't happen to all bikes but this seems to be the average results.

I've got three sets over here if anyone wants a set to play with. 1 set is for 2010 and up and 2 sets are 2007-2009. PM me and I'll send them for half price of new.

Installed the XIED from NightRider.com on my 2010 TriGlide. Took the trike on a 200 mile ride and it was simply amazing! My trike ran smoother, no decel popping, and little or no throttle delay! Also, mileage increased from 38 to 41 mpg! The NightRider XIED is the best and least expensive upgrade you can buy! I highly recommend it!

Your the 1st person who has ever found a fuel mileage increase with the XIED's, the vast majority find a loss of fuel mileage. Both AFR's 14.1 & 13.2 will consume more gas in the close loop areas. The decel popping is gone because you had a lean spot in the deceleration area and the XIED richened that area up.

Its so hard to see the pot settings I wondering if they are set per what the instructions state?? Maybe this would explain the increase in MPG's??
