When's your season begin?

Just got back from my season opener ride. Yeah, baby! :D I live in south central WI. Curious, when do your riding seasons begin? Is there a temperature, road condition you wait for?

I usually wait until late March when all the salt has cleared from the roads. I can hopefully say Winter has passed and the clocks go forward one hour. Oh for the love of daylight. I hate the Winter. Our season starts in April and the girls and boys will soon be out to play:yay:

First ride of the season, if it isn't snowing or icing, is January 1, called the Iron Man Run. after that it depends on the weather. After a snow melt I wait until it rains a few times to wah away the salt, then am good until next ice/snow. We are usually good for at least a week or two riding each month in the winter. Summer season starts anytime soon.

Here in Oklahoma we will have a few days of bad weather followed by a few days of good weather this time of year.
It's a little bit if a guessing game but the season is getting close.

Season? What is this thing you speak of? Said the Floridian. :D

Actually, since we're in the northwestern part of the state, we DO get some periods when the weather's colder than you want it to be for riding--like in the 40s, and believe it or not, we get some days in the 30s too. Got quite a few of them this year. That's colder than I want to be, especially with a stiff breeze coming over the bow.

But now the spring weather has begun in earnest--spring and fall are the best riding seasons in Florida! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh:yay:

The bad part about living in Southern Va is we can get as hot as Florida, sometimes even hotter and very humid in the summer and we still have plenty of winter. So guess the best part is spring and fall. Although we can find days to ride in the winter. I have put 3000 miles on the trike so far, but the trip to FL helped with that.

Juju I'll second that except I live in Key Largo. 30's remotely and then only for an hour or 2. riding available 365 if you don't mind rain. I'm old school I ride when ever I can. Ted

Ted, it's just that same way with the Chief. He's like the post office when it comes to riding: "Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night" keeps him off his bike.

Me, I opt for fair weather every time! :D

Sorry IMHO I will take riding in temp. range 85 to 45 and off for 3 months rather than riding 35 to 105 and not stopping for a few weeks.

Brought trike out of storage today! I have a self imposed rule. I won't bring my motorcycles home till I clean my garage in the spring. Started cleaning on Sunday. Finished last night about 11PM. Yee Haw, the trike came home today.:D Rode some this evening but still quite a bit of salt on the streets. Will keep trike home now. When the weather turns yuky, and it will. I will start adding my updates. Ezee Steer, new front speakers, progressive springs, new Michelin front tire, cup holder, ISO grips w/throttle boss, touring windshield and driving lights. Now by the time I get all this done. The streets should be clean and the weather warm.

Yesterday, and about time too!!! Didn't get to ride long or far, but OH I so needed it!!! Kept thinking "Why didn't I do this years ago?".

And yep, definitely gotta see about raking it this year. :)

Here in northwest kansas you ride anytime you can. Some winters it's off and on 12 months of the year..like this winter...and then sometimes there's 4 months of you don't dare go outside!! Here we learn to ride in the ''wind'...play golf in the wind....fish and hunt in the wind and work in the wind. Just part of our life in northwest kansas. But..our doors are never locked..neighbors are neighbors..our kids ride their bikes all over town..and we are proud of our young soldiers who keep our town and country 'free'.

Down here in Central Fl (that's Orlando for all the nonFloridians) our riding season begins on Jan 1 and end on Dec 31. We might take a break if there is a hurricane or two - but other wise we ride all year.

Ya'll come on down
