When using rear tire on front backward explained

On most of my vw trike builds i run a rear tire off a goldwing or a hd, for better handling and looks, but if the tire is mounted backwards, it will still handle great, but the tire will not thread water as it would if mounted the orginall way, arrows need to go with the rotation of the mfg directions.

Had an MPA rear installed on the front reverse rotation this AM. Rode home. Didn't feel any different what so ever. Even on the one road with twisties here in town. I had a stock Dunlop (for front) with 9k miles on it.

What a disappointment. At least it's not a real expensive tire.

Steve wait and see how the wear is before you be real disappointed. Your trike maybe enough lighter than GW's and HD touring trikes that the steering was not as greatly effected.

Benefits in lighter/quicker steering, etc. are definetly gonna' be different from Trike to Trike like the Gold Wings, Harleys, VTXs. Trike weight, rake, trail, wheelbase, etc. will all be factors. It will be interesting to see how much mileage gains non-Gold Wing Trikes get. By the input so far, the Gold Wing Trikes seem to get the most gain in the other than mileage departments.....;)

There's nothing wrong with the MPA. And I feel the "New tire boost" you get when you go from old tires to new. But as far as handling goes, this doesn't even resemble an upgrade  For what the tire cost, that's fine. I was wanting to change the front tire anyway.

I am anxious to see if my mileage increases, but I personally don't see that it could amount to much if it does. With any luck, I'm dead wrong there ;)

I have come to realize that when folks talk about massive differences between tires, and raked/non-raked trikes, the big differences seem to be in the big trikes.

Can't tell you yet about any increased mileage on the MPA, but I have one on my front (reversed) now. It has about 6000 on it and is showing no signs of wear or cupping. Time & miles will tell.

It's thicker tire, so I expect it to last more mileage. I was referring to MPG.

Randy I have a rear Dunlop on the front of my HD trike reversed. Works very well and I will let all know about the mileage

No offense please, don't Flame me OK. In my group of HD friends they would never consider going against HD design . If their front tire wore out every 500 miles they still would not put on a different tire . Most wont change brands or have anyone else install them but a HD dealer . I KNOW we have some on this form that regularly work on their own bike . Those few HD owners that I do that work on their bikes are real wrenches and I think it is funny that it is from one extreme to another . I Bet in a question and answer at a local Group /Benefit ride if you asked 100 the HD riders 80% have never changed their own oil. At least in this part of the country most are dress up doctors , lawyers business men that ride 500to 1,000 a year, and trade in the bike every 2 or 3 years.

Yeah, but he should be able to corner real easy.

Just had a guy call me collect from indoneasha---said he tried the two front wheel system ( one going forward and one reversed)but all it would do then was go in circles.

OK ya caught me he wasn't really from Indoneasha he was from Malaysha
