What trailer do you use to haul your trike?

I have a 2017 Goldwing with a Roadsmith trike kit. When I take it on a trailer I use a BigTex 10’ landscape trailer. Because the Roadsmith is so long I can’t use the ramp that comes with the trailer because it will bottom out as it goes onto the trailer. I have to remove the ramp/tailgate and use three 9’ folding ramps. Also, by the time I mount my wheel chock on the front the trike is too long and I wouldn’t be able to close the tailgate even if I was able to use it. I would need a 12’ trailer. Has anyone run into this problem? What trailer and ramp do you use? Has anyone tried the Aluma tk1? How about any of the fold up style ramps?

I have not used one but did talk to someone that has the Aluma TKI for her CSC trike. The CSC is 113 inches long and I think the Roadsmith is 115.

I got rid of my 2-wheel trailer and have been considering a TK1. My plan, when ready is to visit a dealer and ride my trike on to see how it looks.

Good luck and let us know what you discover.

Brian, I use an enclosed trailer, but I have not used the wheel chock since I went to three wheels. I just run it up to the front and strap it to the trailer rail. have you tried raising the tongue of the trailer to lower the approach angle on the ramp just for stability? don't disconnect from your vehicle use your trailer jack to raise it up some.

Brian, if you get a 12 ft landscape type trailer with a folding gate, I'd recommend getting one with the tall gate and at least 6 1/2 feet wide (for the wider than a TG, conversion trikes). A 6 ft wide trailer will work, but it will have less clearance than you really want. I was an Aluma Trailers dealer and the TK1 trailer will work and are good trailers. Their single wide ramp is stored underneath the deck and slide into place.

I had the Aluma TK1 trailer as Zook described. Used it to haul a Gold Wing Monarch II trike or the Gold Wing MotorTrike, trike.

It was an excellent trailer.

Nice storage box up front with rock guards flanking the storage box on each side.

Never had to mess with hiking up the hitch end to accomodate loading/unloading.

Pulled beautifully and so light weight - very easy to push/pull around by hand - we did use a hitch dolly to maneuver it around by hand, but was not necessary - merely a convenience.

Sold it and both trikes.

We have a 7 x 12 enclosed vnose that we haul with, I believe 'oldschool' has a TK1 that he likes a lot.

I use a 6.5 x14.I had it before the trike and I easily have 2ft extra. It has 4 ft gate and I screwed a 2 x6 about 2 ft long at the back just in front of the gate and raise the tongue with the jack for insurance.Mine is a CSC trike and she sets low.I agree with Papa 6 ft would be a little close for comfort especially without a second set of eyes while loading/unloading.I think alot of 12 ft are 6 so be careful if going that way.

I use a a 7 x 14 Haulmark V nose to haul my Can Am Spyder. The Spyder is 5.5 ft wide and 10 ft long. I could get by with a 6 x 12 but now I have a little extra room. It is a V nose. I use the tailgate as my ramp. As to using your ramp have you tried putting your portable ramps over your existing tailgate ramp? Also could you raise the nose of the trailer with the screw jack up front to get the tail low enough so you will clear.? As to your chock can you run the front wheel against the front rail and use that for your chock? On the tailgate itself raise it up as high as you can and chain it there. I you have to tie some padding between it and the trike rear.

I just purchased this trailer for my 2019 Tri Glide Stinger For Trike / Tri Glide Folding Motorcycle Trailer

This company, Stinger, has the ability to create the trailer you need, depending on what your needs are. Pricey? You may think so. I bought mine 4 years old and saved $3K. An unheard of buy from a guy that got out of riding.
I have yet to tow it with the trike on the trailer but will review once I get my new 2025 Honda Passport hitched and tranny cooler ed up. I bought the trailer before the car knowing what I wanted to do. Thanks to my wife who is helping me fulfill a dream.

I missed this thread the first time around. I have 2 choices to use depending on what type of trip I'm taking. Actually 3 because many times I just choose to ride. But if I need to haul, I have a 2021 Wildwood FSX 190RT Toyhauler or a 2019 R&S 7x16 enclosed cargo trailer. The cargo trailer sits low enough that is real easy to use and I was able to easily get my CSC inside. I have since installed etrack on both sides of floor from front to back so positioning the trike is simple. I also have a CFMoto Zforce 800 Trail side by side that I can also fit in. Not sure if I can get both in at the same time though...

Now the FSX, it takes a bit of work to get the CSC in. It sits much higher than the cargo trailer so the ramp is pretty steep. The first time trying to pull my trike in, I got hung up under the motor at the top of the ramp. I had to get creative. I ended up buying 2 folding sets of ramps from Discount Ramps when they had a sale. The pic shows both sets of ramps but I have since taken the pins out of one set and use 1 double and one single. This gives me a total of 66" wide and the ramps add almost 6' to the ramp door. I use 3 jack stands extended fully under the ramp and put them under each of the rubber bumpers near the top edge of ramp door. It works very well and dramatically reduced the angle. It just takes a few extra minutes to get set up for loading and unloading.

do you just strap the ramps to wall when hauling? I raise the togue of my toyhauler which lowers the angle enough to load or unload.
Yeah I tried that The jack on the tongue does go pretty high and still had a small problem getting over the hump. The toy hauler deck just sits too high and the ramp isn't long enough. It also gives me an interesting angle inside when stopping. At the time I first tried, I was still using the 1" fork caps that CSC provided with the rake kit. I had since changed those out for the 2" ones from Papa Zook but never tried again loading with just the drop door ramp. The 2" ones did increase the clearance a bit. However there is still the frame for the floorboards that reduce ground clearance a bit as well.

When at the destination and unloaded, the ramps would fit nicely underneath the sofa/extra bed that runs along side wall. When going from A to B, I just stand them on their side and slide them in between the wall and the trike. I use the long cushion from the sofa to put between the extra ramps and the trike to keep them in place. It works out just fine.

Mike, that's what I had originally decided to do but I really didn't want to keep up with the ramps, so I tried it lifting the tongue and it worked. If you ever in Maggie valley and need to unload I use the church parking lot across from Hillbilly camp ground because it has a hump at the back of the lot that's out of the way and it makes it easy to unload.

Yeah, at a few places I've been able to find a rise to back up to and then drop door onto. Do this, then no need to pull out the extra ramps. It's just nice to have the extra ramps although they can be a pain to drag out, set up, and then put away each time.

I put them in the bed of my truck. I stack them up sideways by the tailgate so I still have use of the rest of the bed. I also strap them together so they don’t fly around and damage my other cargo. Works well but it’s really a pain in the arse setting up and taking down the ramps. They’re fairly heavy.
