Recently bought a 1993 Escapade trailer, it was in rough shape, I stripped it down to the tub, used truck bed coating on the bottom underside part and will paint the top half gloss black PpG plaint. Cut out the old lights because I wanted something more modern and LED, I didn’t just want to put LED bulbs in. I’m filling the holes with fiberglass and will order lights later after it’s painted. Painted the under frame black, the tongue silver and ordered new wheels. I think the tires are a bit big but we shall see. New Monroe shocks… getting there.

looks like a nice project can't wait to see the end pics
Me as well but I’m taking my time and doing it right. No rushing here. Got my weatherstripping, LED lights with sequential turn signals and paint supplies. Need to finish sand the primer , getting ready to shoot the base coat. Then assembly will begin

Hey - looks like this is really coming along. You have all winter to get it ready for next year.

Keep us up to date with pictures.

Please keep us ALL posted, ""where do you live"??, I'd love to come over and help you, do the Re-build

The initial picture, I thought that trailer looked in good shape. Then I saw the others and boy, that was a bit rough looking and had a hard life. Was it sitting outdoors when you bought it? I restore projects like this as well and always appreciate how others make changes and improvements to customize it for themselves. Anxious to see how it turns out. BTW, was the black vinyl front protector salvageable or what is your plans with it? Which sequential LED’s did you end up with? I’ve seen a smaller version like found on a Mustang that looks pretty neat.

The vinyl bra is salvageable yes I believe. I bought new black snaps for it at Michael’s, I need to clean it good and treat it with a good vinyl cream protector.
I wet sanded the top yesterday. 320 grit them 600 grit. I forgot how much work it takes to wet sand body panels but I’m informed the long haul and I want it done right.

Have you decided how you will mount them yet? If vertical, sequence up? Have you considered doing a “V” with them? My Victory Vision had a “V” taillight that I put sequentials in and it really caught your attention

I believe I am just going to mount them horizontally. I’m going to have to mock mount them first I think but I believe I want them horizontally.

Coming along good! You have some large flat panels, you need large sanding blocks, but you already know that LOL !
I actually don’t have a long block but it feels straight. I’ll have access to one this weekend. The wet hand feel is what I was trained in but it’s been a while. My son in law will check behind me when I think I’m ready for shooting.

Well. I'm no pro but I have messed around with paint enough to know that shooting it is the easy part. And it won't turn out any nicer than the prep work that went into the job!

Any flaw in the prep will show in the finish usually. I want to do a lot of prep. As smooth as I can get it before we shoot.
