What PSI?

Been riding my '12 Goldwing with a Roadsmith conversion now for 3 months and finally got around to checking the PSI in all tires and frankly was a little surprised.

Both back tires I was riding on read 20 psi and the front was 30 psi.

The side wall on the Falken rear tires says do not exceed 40 psi.

The front (new and specific for a trike) Michelin tire read on the side wall 41 cold psi.

So I increased both front and rear to 30 psi., but now the ride is a little hasher, but rolls easier,

and I would think helps the gas mileage.

90% of my riding is just me.

Can I ask you trike brothers what psi your comfortable with on your trikes?

Now I wondering if my trike converter had a reason to set the psi on front and back tires so low

or did the psi drop that much in 3 months.................:confused:

Front =42 per Avon
Rear = Michelin MXV4 - 30 psi cause we're heavy and ride two up 95% of time.

Loaded fully and pulling trailer I up the rears to 32 psi.

All pressures measured when tires are cold.

41 Psi in the Front checked every ride...they will leak down.... MPA for now.... Avon when I change...

26 PSI in the rears.... these are car tires made for cars not trike rear specific / get them to hard they will ride hard.... good way to tell what's correct is to dampen the pavement in front of the rear tires and push the trike through if the damp area (notice I said damp) not a puddle... transfers to the tire all the way across that's when its correct.... and let some pressure off the sway bar if you want them harder, but they'll wear quicker.

Depends on your personal preference and suspension settings.
I run 22 psi in the rear and 36 in the front to soften up the ride.
The rear tires don't need a heck of a lot of air to support the weight they bear.
This isn't a car, yet they are car tires. Your not supporting 1500 lbs on 1 tire ever.
20-25 psi is more then enough for the given total weight they would be bearing even 2 up and a fully loaded bike.

The front is another story.
I have no clue as to why anyone would run a rear tire on the front at its maximum psi. 41 psi on the rear is a fully loaded at its max for a 2 wheeler. When on the front its again not bearing any weight. For me at 41 psi the front bounces all over the place like its a pogo stick. The front suspension of all Honda crosiers is severely lacking in all respects EVERYTHING to me. In a word. I think it stinks.............hated my Valkries front end too and every 1800 VTX Ive ever rode. The 1300s is just OK.
I run mine at 36psi cold. Its 40ish psi hot. More then enough for me. It rides softer with no issues for me at say 70-75mph.

I prefer comfort over longevity. Id change fronts every 10K if I had to. So far 12K as far as I know and front tire still looks new. MPA on front. Radial TAs on the rear with 23K and still have a ton of tread left. Right sides wearing faster then the left?? Why I don't know for sure.

Michelin is not making a TRIKE specific tire. You are using a Michelin Pilot ACTIV that is actually a rear tire.

Gene's was saying it was a Trike specific.:D
 
40-41 in the front, cause it seems to wear better. 24 in the rears is where I have a full contact patch that Solidbob referenced, and it rides smoother than higher pressures.
 
Did he say he went 3 months before he EVER checked his tire pressure? Now there is a person who has total faith in God.
 
Has anyone rotated the rights and left side rear tires for better wear ???


Just like car tires these are Radials and they rotate on a Car on the same side as to not change rotation direction IE: Frt to Rear or Rear to Frt same side... now if you buy bias ply car tires then you can swap them..... so where they are is where they stay generally...
