I did not want to hijack the current chaps thread

For those of us who ride in areas BLESSED with BUGS.

What do you use to clean off the GRIME after a ride.
(grime sounded better than bug guts)

I've found that a little saddle soap and then leather treatment will work very well. I usually do this in the spring, at the start of the riding season; then I don't mess with them for the rest of the season.

Riding through the next rain storm.
Dagnabit. That was the snarky answer I was going to use.
wait, you mean there are people out there who actually clean their jackets? As far as chaps, I use a wet sponge to wipe of the salt that covers my chaps this time of year.

I don't use/have Chaps, But I do wear a leather jacket, And every now and then I'll put it on a hanger and spray it heavy with leather cleaner. The brand doesn't matter [to me] been doing it that way for over 18 years now same jacket. And it has that just right distressed look that a motorcycle jacket should have...

+1 ThumbUp
14 yrs for 1 & 12 yrs for the other.

I don't clean 'em at all.. Us Badass Triker Bikers want to look and smell like we are expected to. Even spilled beer and Crown down the front has to stay there.

when they were new I applied a thick coat of "mink oil" to all my leathers. (boots as well.) let them sit for about a week then work it in to the seams . it dries a little tacky and takes a lot of rubbing to get the excess off but they are water prof when your done. I repeat this process every 4 or 5 years.

I have one jacket I have had 30 years and its still usable. only cracks are around the collar where my neck has rubbed off the coating over the years. I think I got my moneys worth

as for cleaning, a little water and saddle soap (after all , it is water prof. )

clean your leather? hmmmm,why!??
Had my latest leather (jacket since 92) I let the rain
rinse it off. Kinda like the worn look.:xzqxz:

Use mike oil myself but after applying I use a hair dryer and heat the leathers all over. This expands the leather slightly, also, melts the mink oil which soaks into the leather. Wipe off the excess and do it again. The wipe it down again.
